Hi,

I just (yesterdy!) bought a UK Spec Twin-Turbo auto with 137k miles on the clock (and still going strong!). Unfortunately, I do not have an Owner's Handbook (although if anyone has one for sale, please let me know) and do not, therefore, know the recommended spec of engine oil to use.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what engine oil is best suited to my car (semi / fully synthetic and what grade e.g. 10w40). I've spent the last hour searching this site and am still none the wiser!

MANY thanks!

Many thanks Oilman for a superb post :smash: . You must cut&paste it into our FAQ section else it will soon disappear into obscurity which would be a tragedy.

It gives an insight into why synthetics are, justifiably, so much more expensive than petroleum oils. Could you list the most popular oils that we are likely to use in our Zeds in price order, whether they are petroleum based, hybrid or synthetic and whether you would recommend them (or not) for standard/modified/track - TT & N/A.

Sorry to work you even more after the facinating details you have already given but we must use experts like yourself to the maximum whilst we can.

That's one of the main things I love about this club, there is always someone giving out useful information like this that help us get the most from our precious Zed's.

Cheers - Dave

even 6000 mile oil changes are outdated on a modern car with fully synth oil, on our mercs you will see >16,000 mile intervals with fully synth oil!!

i still change mine every 3-4000 miles, mainly because its free! ;) :D
