Ok as promised i have tried to find out as much as possible about the Tesco Super Unleaded (99 RON) Unfortunately i have been unable to find out what has been added nor where the fuel is sourced from (lots of red tape) however, there has been independant testing on this fuel alongside BP Ultimate and Shell Optimax.

Due to confidentiality im unsure as to weather im able to discuss the finer details though ;ets just say the research showed BHP gains with tesco 99 to be significantly greater than shell and BP.

Coupled with the fact that Tesco is almost certainly cheaper if not the same price as these other forecourts the wise man would certainly choose tesco.

Tesco currently has Super Unleaded at 200 of its forecourts and is investigating spreading that availability.

Proof of the independant testing?

Says who? Thats just as good as me saying 'well no proof, can't say anything, but damn tesco gave me 1000bhp!!'

there was a article in jap tuner a bit back that tested shell optimax , bp ultimate and tesco 99, result was optimax allowed much more ignition advance than the other two before det.

How many BHP Points to you gain with Tesco 99Ron????

I'm sure I read somewhere that Tesco uses an octane booster and it's one of the green fuel alcohol types, like from sugar beet or something.

There are loads of independent tests been done on all these fuels over past fuel years...everyone shows different results !...although the majority still put Optimax as the winner.

 

Cant argue with the Tesco's price though.

 

P.S Shell are now replacing its 98ron optimax with 99ron V-power.

I used this the other day....all I can say is its amazing. 97.9 and it makes a huge difference. Shall continue to use it all the time from now on.

i work on the petrol tankers that deliver to the forecourts an up untill recently every one on here wouldnt put fuel in there car from any of the leading stations if they seen what i have fookin allsorts floatin innit :rant:
