The screen on my laptop has gone blank. The PC works OK as I've hooked it up to my main screen and everything is OK.

The lappy suffered a blow next to the mouse button and the screen went blank last week.

I've been into both of my local PC shops and one couldn't do lappys anymore and the other would charge so much that it wouldn't even be worth looking at (£30 initial charge + £45 per hour + parts) This lappy only cost me £250 earlier this year, so it wasn't all that expensive.

Anyone any ideas as to what I could do?

Firstly I'm not buying a new laptop, and I'm not really into spending another £250 on something that I very rearly use (I only got it for ConZult)

Cheap options please people :D

it may just be the cold cathode tube in the bottom of the screen thats gone, its an easy fix, you should be able to buy a spare tube from one of the many laptop parts re-sellers online, try http://laptopbitz.co.uk/ these guys are very helpful i get spares off them all the time for laptops.

all you do is remove the screw covers on the screen assy with a sharp blade, then undo the screws, the case has to be popped open , usually a small screwdriver in one of the gaps along the side will allow it to be popped open, , there is usually 4 screws ,two each side of the screen undo them, the screen should now tilt forward, on the side you should see two wires from the screens power inverter(dont touch this you will light up for a min r two!!) the wires ar usually white and pink, pull the terminal plug out of the inverter.

flip screen over, you can see where the cables go in the back of the screen , lift the shield up and you will see the tube, genly lift out and replace with new, reverse fitting and restart, dont put the front of the screen back on until you have tried it.

any probz pm me.

i think but im not 100% that it uses the same tube james. been a while since i did any of those.
