Any Real Noticable Driving difference between a SWB and Slicktop ??

Ok.. I've about given up on the idea of getting a model report done. So I spoke to my mate in Japan today and plenty of '95,'96 SWB's around and few Slicktops.

So I've given him the task of finding one with under 35K cert. miles on the clock.

I Like the idea of getting the more rare Slicktop... but it's a hard decision to give up the benefit of T-Tops on days like we are experiencing now... I've never driven a slicktop... so not sure if I'm making a fuss over nothing..

Do they drive like 2 different cars ??? or can you hardly notice the difference out on the road??

*I do have a Roll bar that I can put into that may add a bit of stiffness?

Your wrong mate, the only way to travel in style is 300ZX convertible, top down, of course.

If your going to have a Z you may as well have the rarest and best looking of them all :D

Keith

Definitely the rarest!

a slick top vs a targa with the same suspention setup etc. slicktop will handle better but would only be noticable in competent hands, and in that sense I mean a proper racing driver. Not us weekend wanabe's this is due to the stiffer body and chasis.

However a long wheel base is going to be able to get round a race track faster, but a swb would be better for a hill climb as its lighter so quicker and more agile.

SWB is prone to happy ass more so than the LWB.

Targas are a pain in the ass. if you gota have a top off buy a convertable. I wish my targas where not there.

RIP this thread.....

Right here's my 2p's worth.

SWB's. As much as I love all things Zed I feel that the SWB's look a little stumpy. Like they've been booted up the arse. The LWB just looks more elegant. The reason I bought a LWB was for the targa's. I love looking up and seeing the sky and feeling the wind in my hair. Thats also why I sold my blinds (and the fact that my head don't fit under them). Slicktops are just so dark inside. Also seeing as it's my only car Ineeded something with more than 1 other seat. I also believe that the extra length of the LWB makes it easier to kick the tail out and control the drift and isn't so snappy.

Ivan

I used to think the SWB were "stumpy" until I owned a few. If you look at them every day for a couple of weeks, then look at the LWB, the LWB looks too long. ie the only reason you think the SWB looks stumpy is because your used to seeing the LWB. I'm sure all SWB owners will agree with this.

I love my shortie. It also means that I no longer hav to tke the kids when we go out.

The youngest is 18.

Have to admit mine dosen't get the same teh reaction in the village as long one.

Last sunday wozzer came over for a beer and the kids saw me go bye, a daily occurence, but when wozzer went bye you could hear them all going wow look at that.

A bit depressing really supposing they were looking at the car.
