Drove over a speed hump in slowing moving traffic a couple of weeks ago. Heard a really nasty bang, pulled over and checked under car but couldn't see any damage so thought nothing of it.

Noticed about a week ago car had started to lose water. Only a small amount so topped up and put it down to the hot weather.

On saturday evening checked again at hotel in peterborough (JAE) and had lost over 2 litres :(

Decided to limp slowly home and miss sunday's jae, well fed up.

Got to check car properly last night. Looks like bottom hard pipe (smithys) has been pushed back and water pump pulley has slowly been eating into silicone elbow.

car now off the road until i can sort it.

so as title says

SPEED HUMPS FFS

Unlucky Nick :(

My lower pipe was cable tied to the bottom of the rad to stop this happening. It does sit pretty close to that pulley otherwise :(

Hope you can get it sorted quickly

You should have come along to JAE i'm sure we could have got it fixed, especially since there was a company there selling silicone hoses :p

Good idea, will cable tie it back.

need to sort it quick. away on hols for most of august and got rolling road day coming up

yep - feckin speed bump is responsible for smashing my west wing rear bumper!!! :(

FYI - the stainless steel bottom rad pipe has now been modified to avoid this problem. Top of the vertical pipe has been bent roughly 10 degrees to make sure it is situated well away from the pully. The design now follows the stock rubber pipe shape more closely.

I hate speed humps. Everytime I get on a road that has them I have a queue of cars behind me and I can only imagine what names they are calling me as I crawl over each speed hump trying to have as little of my car go over it. Oh and dont get me started on the scrapeing noise when my exhaust rubs on one of them. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Can relate to that. Mines not lowered, doesn't even have a bodykit but some of those humps are a complete *********. I've had people beeb me but I just take a deep breath than go even slower. I'm not about to damage my car because someone is unwilling to wait. Of course once pasted the bumps and the speed limit increases I drop the foot and watch them disappear in the rear view mirror. LOL
