Boost issue.

Help please someone. My 300zx ( imported recently) seems to be dumping air overboard. I had the same issue on another zx before. Thinking it was safety boost I did all the usual things...disconnect and clean all conectors ( water, TPS etc) and the issue went away. On this one same problem. It will boost to around 5 but no further and if I drive it for a while the warning light that looks like an exhaust with heat comes on. Checked the ECU and did all the same things again and I can't get rid of it. I don't know the exact history of the car but it has an Apexi S-AFC fitted so I think maybe at some point it had a boost controller as well...so I checked for the intake pipes still being connected and they are. Any ideas guys...at the moment the car sounds like it has a totally blown exhaust ( which is hasn't) and is burning fuel at an alarming rate. Is there an easy way of checking the wastegate solenoids?

Hello and wecome to the forum,

Have you done an ECU check for errors

The light on the dash is cats overheating.

Sounds like your in saftey boost and are probably over fueling quite a lot

if ur safc is set up incorrectly this could be cauising the problem, or at least contributing to it..

turn it off and let the cars ecu manage everything, then see how it runs...

the warning light is the overheating exhaust one i belive, which would come on if theres unburnt fuel there, as in if the safc is telling the jets to pump in more fuel then the system can burn...

if unsure pm me and i'll give u my mobile and u can call me to talk through the safc settings with u..

Tony
