Ok, I was talking to a mate of mine yesterday, who professes to know a lot about jap cars, and he was telling me that a standard mr2 turbo is quicker than my Z......please tell me this is not true! I don't know if he was trying to wind me up, but he did. If a poxy mr2 is quicker than the mighty Z then I think I may end it right now, come on ladies and gentlemen you have the opportunity to save the life of a fellow Z owner, just say it ain't so!!!

I am in the usa and have beaten mr2 turbos from the take off and the top end.

I always take off and leave them miles behind me in the next town. I own a 1990 300zx twin turbo modified and it will beat most muscle cars on the roads today.

I also own a 1985 2 plus 2 300 zx non turbo model, that kicks ass!

300zx rules all the sports cars if you can handle them and drive them the way that they were made to be driven dudes! It's not the car, it's the driver!

A 245 HP rev 4 MR2 Turbo has a power to weight ratio of 195 bhp per 1000kg

 

Consider that a 280 HP ZX only manages 180 hp per 1000kg

mmmmm, seems to be a lot of mixed opinions! I'm just gonna pretend I didn't read all the ones that said mr2's are quicker and go on thinking that the Z is king of the road (ignorance is bliss).

 

After this discussion I can't wait for my first opportunity to take an mr2 scalp!

Dave-G and I raced one a couple of times at Crail and there was nothing in it cars sat pretty much together the whole why up the strip both times..

A pal of mine has a very respectable Turbo MR2, its around 280bhp, 1.2bar of boost, usual zaust and intake mods and its quick.

 

We've played many many times, 1 bar boost, my Z (if u can launch with minimum wheelspin) will keep with his MR2 to about 70, as soon as I get in 3rd cog, its by by Mr2!

 

Rolling starts from 50, it gets wasted!

i saw this MR2 300bhp+ in watford, that eats scobbies for breakfast, 0-60 a modified mr2 will leave the ZED (no modified) but after 3rd gear its game over.

 

i had a rev 2 mr2 turbo with blitz ECU and other mods it was really quick as it is really light.

They're both excellent cars aimed at different audiences in different markets.

 

For example, I don't think I could get my keyboard and amp in a MR2 with room for another 2 people, so I'll stick with the Zed for now :D

one of me mates had a mr2 turbo it was fast seemed to pick up the revs quicker.had to test out whos was quicker,and agree that it was slightly quicker till we got above 80 then showed him my arse (rear view of me car that is).

And thats all that matters as you can only do 70 anyway legally :smash:

I have had a thought about this subject. it is a ludicrous argument.

 

The MR2 is a sports car, the 300zx is really more of a GT car...

My friends got an MR2 Turbo T-Bar and standard they're only about 220bhp. You must do a lot to get it to 280-300 bhp. My friends MR2 is not at quick as my zed!
