Thats right Chris, look on the bright side.

Apparently you can take a trip up mount Sinaii to watch the sunrise. It's well worth the journey but a very long trip by crappy bus at night so take plenty of water and do accept the ride up the mountain on a camel as it's a very long hard walk . When you've watched it you have to be very quick going down the other side of the mountain which is very steep and no camel ride. If you're not quick enough you get fried by the sun. then it's the bus ride back in the heat & you're knackered.

do it because you probably wont go again.

Or you can stay at the St Catherines Monastry and get up at silly o'clock in the moring to walk up Mt Sinai. You should do it - it's an experience you'll remember for a long time.

A few words you may need ;)

We only found these towards the end of our saty in Luxour last year, so didn't make all that good use of them :D

Enjoy your saty mate :duffer: :duffer:

Don't accept a locals offer to take pictures of you with your camera, they don't steal it, just ask for a small fortune for it's return!

yep!

also, keep a loo roll handy, cos they nick them from the toilets and then wait outside to sell you a sheet!

didnt spend too long in sharm, i have done 2 liveaboards, so only spent 4 days in total on land, but seems very friendly, and if you walk up and down the main front theres loads of places to eat etc - [robably even omore now as last time i went was 2 years ago!

oh and make sure you dive!

Always agree a price on everything (esp. taxis) and confirm that the price is in Egyptian pounds and not British ones!!!!!

Haggle for everything and don't be afraid to walk away - you'll be surprised how the price can suddenly drop.

Take plenty of high factor suncream

Take a hat and sunglasses (obvious really)

Drink loads of bottled water

Put salt on your food

Do as many things as you can and visit as many places as poss - the country has a fantastic history

We had a great time there last year doing a Nile Cruise and then a week in Luxor.Did some fantastic excursions, incl a hot air balloon flight at dawn over The Nile. Here's me at Abu Simbel just after sunrise.

cool cheers for the tips.

ive heard about the camera scams before

is it better to change my cash hear or over there

go diving!

Yep, I agree!

Im an advanced diver and have been to Egypt, Mexico and going Turkey this year!

Sharm has the best diving in Egypt, if you are an experienced diver then the Thistlegorm is a must. Its a sunken ship with cars, motorbikes and tanks still on it, which was sunk in the war!

Apart from diving, you have the pyramids (Cairo) and the statues (Luxor) but you will need to fly over, which isnt cheap!

Also, in Sharm you can visit the Beduin Camps, ride a camel and smoke their 'shisha' pipes. They're quality! You can also ride Quad bikes in the Dunes, this was also lots of fun!

Also, most Egyptians dont give change, so try not to give them a £20 note or something!

And their Taxi's are crap, they're wheel barrows with wheels ;)

Thats an awesome video!

I was very impressed with the standard of diving in Egypt. If you have forgotten your qualifications, you are not allowed to dive and you must assemble all your own equipment.

In Mexico, they would happily take you into a wreck at 30m with an Open Water qualification and they assemble your equipment. Alot of their depth guages didnt work properly either. Thank god for my computer!

I have a few pics, but it was only taken from a 30 metre 35mm fixed focus camera.
