all weekend they have been calling hangs up as soon as you answer 5.30 morning it rang, gaylords that's all i can say.

If i was to leave the phone off the hook when they do it next would it cost them until i hang up?? as the connection will still be there.

Not if they hang up to.

Can you not get their number? I had this problem last year it was HSBC automatic dailing trying to connect from Head office to the local bank to down load infor. We reported the number to BT and they finnaly told us who it was gave us HSBC's maned number we made a complaint and received a writen apology and a small cheque.

My mum has had that on witheld number for about 2 years now. Phone company reckon they can do nothing. They ring several times a day and just hang up when she answers. I would have lost patience by now and changed my number but mother plods on................crazy fool!!!

She needs to block the caller ask BT about blocking. It's a service were if someone rings you than quickly dail in another number that then blocks that number from ringing you again. I had to do it when I took over a new number because I had some bloke ringing me, but only when my hubbie was out so the guy was watching the house. You can block up to 10 numbers just in case they try using another line.

Blocking works for Mobile numbers too.

If the number isn't a BT number there is a web site you can put the number into to get the company if it's a company, but it also give's personnal numbers if they arn't ex directory.

Also a good tip is to keep a large whisle by the phone and blow it down the phone every time you get a prank call. If the phone goes off at night, turn off the ringer and leave the answer machine on untill you get it sorted.

All the best mate

If they have no withheld ring your phone company and have all callers who withold there no blocked. BT do it for £4 a month

It's prob a call center auto diling and no operator available to take up other end or to cancel call. India you got to love the place :)

She asked about that but apparantely because its witheld they think it is coming from a call centre somewhere they reckon they can do nothing cos they cant trace the caller

sounds like an auto dial to me. especially as it would take a pretty silly prankster to wake up at 5 in the morning just to ring someone.
