guys, my new power steering hose is due to arrive on friday, so the car will be back on the road. hurrah!!

 

what fluid should i be using in the power steering system, just your average-joe ATF? or do nissan have some wonder fluid i should be using?

Using any other could cause the seals/pipes to go I suspect.

it has been a long hard day, so any preferance over I or II - also, how much of it will i need?

I'm sure it's meant to be Dexron 1 but I can only ever find Dexron 2 in the shops.

I think the type 2 is an updated replacement with the same properties.

 

A small 1/2L to 1L size bottle will be plenty, usually costs about £6 or something.

i can now see that Castrol are making an ATF Dexron III - is this different and not advised in the steering, or just the new alternative to 1 and 2. sorry for all the questions, but i dont want to kill my steering, asi hear the 300 can be a bit picky on this front :)

Yeah I might be wrong actually and it's 2 or 3 that's in the shops! :rofl:

I'm sure Dexron III is fine :)
