NZR - Online remote backup - any recommendations?

Can anyone recommend any firms which offer reliable online (via ADSL) server backup? I'm speaking to a couple of companies, but any good or bad experiences would be appreciated

I did looks at several providers about three years ago, and also looked at suppliers offering just online space at a lower cost without the backup service offering.

In the end I went down another route, doing it between trusted remote locations.

For my home working stuff I use a simple back up product which backs up changed files every night from home to the office, pre max I could do over a gig per night (256K upload), but now with max and 832K (Business Max) upload it should be in the order of 3-4GB per night. So unless you are generating more than 3-4GB (or 1-2MB for a home type Max product) in daily change then you will be fine. For security I used an IPSec VPN connection to the office.

For my personal stuff I use the same product to back up to a backup server in an outbuilding over WiFi, 50+ metres with bridging.

Equally, you could use it for synchronisation and allow this to happen continually.

You just have to do a risk assessment; the worst case it that both your location and the remote location suffer a loss at the same time, probably very unlikely.

A professional 3rd party backup company will usually backup your data to tape, but you need to check and not all do, in which case you not much better than backing up to a trusted site.

Anyway it has worked really well for me for about three years.
