I was coming home from bluewater yesterday about 1am and as I was joining the A2, a Sabaru Imprezza WRX pulled along side me. It was proper pimped out with vinals down the side of it - great big wale fin spoiler. I couldnt resist but show him who's boss and put my foot down. He tried so hard to keep up, it was pathetic. Loser! :D

I really love my Zed.

my celica GTR lol 270bhp at the fronts without the Gas, it runs a custom LSD and Gearbox but is a complete and utter handful

Is that a Gen 6 or a Gen 7 like this

No it isn't only Ltd edition 850 T5's Pre 94 and Some T6R's post 03

All the rest are FWD A lot of 2.5T are forwheel drive but they are sh1te

It's a 55 reg V70 t5R and is 4Wheel drive.

Can I ask why then was all the FWD pro cars at santa pod civics, is it because they are cheap and light

Remember you are comparing a turbo vs a non turbo, (except the Integra)

I am far from an expert on cars but if you dumped a turbo or supercharger on a civic (both becoming common and £3K) it would expect it to piss on the Saab and Volvo (which are heavier cars too)

It's a 55 reg V70 t5R and is 4Wheel drive.

According to Volvo UK its as I said mate only V70 T6R is AWD as they corrected me from 4WD. V70 T5R and S60T5R are FWD only.

The V50 T5 is AWD, but is only 220 brake and 271 PPF torque. However the RS variant due out this year will be 460BHP same as the S40 T5RS. They are basically a full Cossy speck running gear with the T5 in line as aposed to being transverse. This is the same set up as the 850 T5Rs that beet everything in touring cars.

Very nice. I quite like the GT4 and was going to but one for the wife (she drive's the pickup and the C70 most of the time) but Thought the TRD Gen 7 looked interesting. It is a bit bonkers as its got no sound proofing and anything that has no funtion but to offer the barest of cumfort was never out in. So its light, loud and handles unbelievably. I've been told these red ones were built for a Jspec racing series. Its much lighter than the blue Mspec TRD with an extra 10BHP. It's quick. :D :D :D

That what i like so much about the car, to the un-trained eye, pleople think its a GT4, but is actually based on a 2.0gti though jap varient less the 4 wheel steer.

We built it around 8 years ago and for the time was well advanced. 1st ever successfully converted 3sge, custom v6 gearbox, gearing, lsd. custom turbo system, head porting, complete bottom end build, custom fuel system and the NOS amoung other things - was also a head ache to tune as like likes of additional injection systems are a complete bitch to tune.

I like the TRD gen 7, but dont think i could ever buy one, In essence, Toyoyta should never have dropped turbo varients in thier cars...hopefully

that will change some day, be it a monster Torque Turbo desiel lol

I have had a subaru wrx and its true.............from stand-still the Z has no chance but rolling at around 60 the Zed would eat it for breakfast

I done a STi from a rolling 10 MPH all the way he didnt have a hope in hell. mine is tweeked slightly so that might be why but a deffinate victory all the same. I have been told the WRX is faster than the STi? Not all that clued up on them TBH.

For crying out loud man!! No offence but it's "Subaru". 'A' isn't even near 'U' on the keyboard. I know others have moaned about this but the poor spelling on here is really starting to get on my tits.

This me old chap, is not the fault of him or anyone, so what if he can not spell. Last time i checked this was a fourm not a school lesson, as long as you understand what the chap is talking about who gives a foook. To add to this some of our paying members are not english and may suffer from comments like this, petty aint it, the comment on spelling not mine. Well thats what i think, sorry m8 just my education was poor and i dont want to feel unhappy about me or anyone posting a thread because they worry about thier spelling and stupid comments towards them. :x:

Well I've spoken to guy on the T5 forum and they say that There were a few V70 T5R's made between 1999 and 2003 when they were replaced by the T6R and They stopped making them in early 05.

So you may be right, You saying you hate it and me having driven My C70 T5 which is a GT same as an R and my 850 R I just carn't see it or it's never been driven properly and is Choked up.

Amen to that mate

i won't be racing my mates subaru sti, its got well over 450bhp and it cruises at 175mph with about 2-3000 rpm to go

Not disputing his mods but thought the Suburu STI whatever generation was only geared with it's final drive ratio to only do and absolute max of 162.3 MPH then there is the aero dynamic in-efficiency of the Impreza too.. I don't think it would cruise at 175mph because he would be having his foot buried in the foor trying to push the bloody thing through the air stream especially with only 450bhp.. The shape of the Impreza just ain't slippery enough...

ohhh dude you should have just said its a british thing, i live in USA, never heard anyone call it a zed, we call them z's or 300's here

its how you pronounce your letters we say zed over here

you say zee lol :wack:

the dc5 teg has been briefly mentioned before, i own a subtly modded one of these, pushing 260bhp, and weigh half of what you lard arse's do, traction in 1st can be a pain but but once she's away she's off!!!!!

never got round to owning a z, ended up with a gto instead, reckon they must be similar, so my comparison is as follows, upto 80-90, nothing in it, then you lot suffer from weight when i suffer from a little less bhp, im doing more 1/4 mile action in october, (done a few more mods since my last trip and 14.1 time so im expecing mid-high 13's) after this we can compare times again.

i suffer from bias as much as anyone, and love my n/a honda, reckon i'll give most of you a GOOD run for your money on track or 1/4 mile!!!!

now i'll stand back and wait for my flaming!!!!

in all seriousness, what are the dc5 tegs like to own/drive? I like the looks of them, but also think they look a little heavy.

Yep, the teg is a lightweight and a modded one could give more powerfull cars a run for there money at lower speeds The trouble is though that low weight is only really an advantage at lower speeds, and the fwd chassis loses a lot of this advantage with traction issues.

Stock 300zx TT 1/4 mile is high 13's - low 14's. Although a lightly modded one (and most are - Chip, exhaust, induction,1bar) gives low 13's.

Dont forget that the zed is a lot lighter than a GTO though, and does'nt have the 4wd friction loses either.

in all seriousness mate shes a good daily driver as well as a good track car, having not been in or driven a 300zx i couldnt compare them fairly, i appreciate that the zed is lighter than the gto and is an fr car.

i had the uk version of the tt and it was a beast, but every car is different and has plus points as well as negatives.

kerb weight is around 1180kg i think, i know its 20kg lighter than the civic type r, and is a totally different thing to drive.
