Oh and maybe its a broken wire you have to that sensor.

DEF duct sensor will be located in the windscreen duct. As Rodders says, it could be a broken wire in the loom to it (maybe trapped) or a knacked sensor. I'll look in the manual for you to see if I can find anything.

Rodders, same to you, I'll see what I can find.

Missed this bit earlier.

On a series one model (up to late '92) it was all automatically controlled by the Air-Con Amp. This took reading from all the sensors and distributed the air-flow accordingly. This was the same for the later spec air-con unit, except that you could fully override this and direct the air wherever you wished (incidentally, you can swap the air-con amp and control pod over from series one to two)

So the answer to your question is that they are, depending on system requirements at that particular time. Saying that, once everything is up to temp, then it should be blowing out of the centre vents.

thank you very much for your help, all i have to do now, is tear my dash apart to find the sensor, and then try to work ou whether i forgot to install it when i did the heater matrix, or if i simply didn't plug it in! What i don't get is, it says in the manual its on the same loom as the sunload sensor but when i reinstalled the dash there was only the sunload sensor on its own little bit of wire. Bit lost. Is this a series 2 feature?!

Ok will shred car at weekend, and let you know whether i survived!

Rich
