Am i right in thinking, that when air con is on, the centre flange of the aircon pump spins? where the belt goes, which obviously spins all the time, the centre should spin when on yes?

well, mine isnt, checked all the fuses, and they are fine 3 in footwell, and one under hood.

looked in the sight glass, and can see no bubbles or beads. any ideas please, im boiling

yup, when the aircon is on the clutch engages on the compressor.

if your car is out of gas the car will prevent this from happening - most likely you just need a regas

is there a sure way of telling if she is out of gas mate?

the sight glass looked k, but it is the first time i checked it lol

just checked debz na and that the same, so i could be looking at 2 refills....think ill wind window down instead lol

you *could* (if you was the sort of person who done illegal activities! ;) ) press one of the service valves in to see if any gas comes out, sometimes when empty there can be a bit of air pressure in there but no gas.

really it needs to be connected to an A/C regas machine

would that be the little valve looking thing near the sight glass?

of course im not going to go out and press it, just ummmmm ahhhhh look at it, yes thats right ill look at it

Right i was outdside just now, and this little bird flying over me carrying a stone, dropped it and it hit my aircon valve.....nothig came out, no gas, no air even, so im guessing, i need a recharge?????

amazing thing is, the stone bounced from my engine, into debz na and hit the same valve, only that time a load of horrible stuff came out, but hers still wont bloody work,

nothing at all, got a hole in your system? The gas should be under quite a high pressure, the compressor stops working when the pressure is too low, but its still pretty high, I would certainly expect something to come out.

nope, nowt at all from mine....

in the motorcare here they have a regass bottle that you can do yourself, it looks like a fire extingiusher and has the connector tube and fitting to re-gas yourself if your system is empty. you want me to get the details for you mart?

yes please sim

mart.

ask for steven james, and tell him its about the arctic freeze aircon gas for your 300zx he will help you, hes got a 300 also and did his. he can tell you what you need to know and how to go about it.

they are there until 5pm. he said they can mail it to you also

got to watch that because the z uses r12 gas and the diy refill kits are r134 so u need to get the system modded by a aircon specialist i was quoted about £100 to convert mine and gas it

cheers pk, spoke to steve, but the kit is more than my local place want to charge it there.

cheers for the thought though mate

not a problem matey, just thought it may be of use.

there are no seals in that kit you posted mate?

and if i'm going to pay £60 then i'd rather get it done for that price mate by a pro

sorry mate, im lost..i dont see any difference between the 2 ? they are both same gas from what i read, both r12 replacement gas, NOT actually r12 gas are they ?

the one is r134 the other is freeze 12, the latter one will replace r12 or r134 but you dont need to change any of the seals in a r12 system to use it, if you want to put r134 in the compressor oil and system seals need to be changed to go with the new gas

ahh crap, well no way im paying 60 bucks for a diy kit....

proberly piss down next week anyway lol
