Following on from the post pirate copies the other day I just thought I'd mention that I'm copying all my old Vinyl to the PC at the moment :D

As I can't play vinyl records in the car ( they seem to jump for some reason ;) ) Would I be classed as pirating these, even though I own the records? I have no intention to sell any of these copies, they are so that I can enjoy some older stuff while I'm driving  Most of these would have been copied to tape yeasrs ago, but then I don't want to carry old tapes around with me.

I've hooked an old record deck up to an old amp then linked it via the Tape 'Record' (output) to the Line-In on the PC. Then I'm useing Roxio Creator 8 to record, split, ID3 tag and then store them on the PC ready for transfering to CD later. ID3 tag is a bit pointless, as my CD changer in the car doesn't support it  I've also not got MP3, which is a shame, but I'm not wasting money on a new head unit when I've got a 10 disc in the boot :D

As far as I know mate, you are aloud to make back up copies of media you own. As long as you don't sell them on you should be safe.

Scrawn.

You can make as many copies as you like as long as you own the originals and you don't give them away to anyone.
