Being wheelchair bound most travelling is in our wheelchair accessible people carrier, but since getting my Z my 14 year old daughter has been really enjoying going in it, as she’s 5’3” and 8.5stone it requires a lot of man handling rather than her just driving into the people carrier, but its well worth it.

Today was great as it was her first time with the roof off, so a three hour trip around the countryside and to the seaside at Hastings.

Oddly the Z make for a decent car to get a disabled person into, despite being low, the doors have a massive opening and when the targa’s are off its even easier as you’re not bashing their head on the roof, then once in the supportive seat stops her flopping around.

If she gets much bigger at least I’ll be able to hoist her in and out via the open roof!

thats how Marcus (wheelman) does it he, slides from his chair into the zed, which has hand controls, and then we hoist him out when he gets back home into his wheel chair. keep thretening to leave him hanging there :x:

check out the paper artical on post 14 from the link on my sig below.

oh and dont forget free entery into the holiday draw

Thats great DAB, glad she enjoyed it, just the thing to make her life all the more enjoyable, I take my hat off to you and many more happy hours with you daughter in the ZED. I had 15years looking after my Dad in a wheelchair and then my so something out of the ordinary does help a lot

The best bit for her is the wife can’t come, so when it’s safe I can put my foot down without the comments! She had a real laugh when I had the wheels spinning, no different to any other 14 year old girl, but instead of a 14 year old boy driving in a nicked car, its her old man acting like a 14 year old!

I didn't see the trip posting before, so have only just donated

thanks david
