my mams car is a nissan almera (y reg/ 2001) and the coil spring on the front has snapped (passenger side, the drivers side snapped about 4 month ago)

so my dad has been ringing around for a replacement, but when he has been ringing salvage yards, they have been saying that its a common fault on these cars

so ive been wondering if there has ever been a call back for them from nissan themselves

cheers in advance

I think they mean common on the older vehicles of this type, and age.

i know loads of citroen picasso's do this to. when they go, they shear the brake lines as well.

yep that is common when the spring snaps, it shreds the inner tyre.

she's been lucky.

loads of cars suffer with broken springs, theres not many days at work where we dont fit at least 1 pair of springs to a merc!!!!!

Not as common as the A class merc i bet.

new E class is the worst at the mo, then A & C, ML's also suffer. old shape S class are a pain in the ass as there like fooking truck springs squeezed under a car wing!! :x:

i have a friend who works on the nissan parts department mate, so will be a little cheaper than nissan themselves

Let me know if you want me to ask him
