seeing as so many people have now got this, prehaps we should now have a seperate datascan infoand support section on the forum, that would keep al info related to this in one place?

definatly, as the questions only going to increase! Maybe have a dataloged section in there as well, be interested to see some other peoples traces, and also to get some advice on how mine look

Is there not somewhere that tells everyone what everything should read at or anyone that knows who could put up a post?

for example:-

idle should be between 750 - 850 and so on and so forth.

It would help alot of people

Membership No 0780

INSURANCE GOOFA

Datascan, Conzult, ECUTalk and a few others

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Excellent idea. Keeps things nice and tidy like

Unless the Blatz UK people fork out the £100 a year it takes to become a trader on this forum then I'd say "no" to the suggested idea of putting up even an info only section.

I'm sorry if this rubs some people up the wrong way but I don't see why I should pay the full traders fee (and have been paying for the past three years) and someone who's not even a paid up member gets a free section. Regardless of whether it is an info only section it will promote sales and that would contravene even the club's own trade rules.

If this is such a good product why isn't there full support (either via phone or via their own website). Doesn't the product come with all the relevant figures and data in the form of a user manual, etc?

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

Dan

I agree with what Danny says, and it doesnt really need a section, a thread in one of the FAQ forums would do.

And Danny, you sound a little bitter about it all, its nothing personal mate, its just the £200 price gap, nobody doubts the conZult is a better product.

Is'nt Audio Nav a paid up Trader and it was through that company the GB was made?? I understand what you are saying Dan but I see plenty of posts regarding help with ConZult, and surely a section for help with datascan wo'nt effect sales with ConZult as I know if I could have afforded a ConZult then I would have bought one.

Sory Dan I have to disagree. This is a Members club, and just like a club meeting face to face information should be freely exchangeable. Goods on the other hand are a differnt matter, however if I buy a boost controler from another sorce outside of the club, stand to reason I would be able to get information on it. What your sugesting contravenes this idea and I would be STRONGLY against it.

I totaly understand your position as a trader, but thats not the issue here, the issue it the freedom to pass on information that relates directly to our cars.

I think it is a great idea, but I would also like to nominate a section for the conzult software too

Section for both that's the way to go. Freedom of Information equals power.

Oh, i missed this post the other day and morning put something very similar in the suggestion area of the site.

I think it would be a good idea to know what everything should be roughly reading as i just think it looks good and don't know what any of it means let alone what it should be reading.

So we could have what everything should be reading and how much leway we can have on each of the readings.

I'm sorry if I sound a little "bitter" about it all - I assure you it's nothing personal.

I agree that there should be freedom to exchange information freely on this forum.

As far as I'm aware AudioNav is not an official reseller of the Blatz product (David - please correct me if I'm wrong) but he did kindly offer to organise the GB. I have no problem with that at all.

I do not personally own the Blatz equipment but I have recently "tested" it and was left feeling short changed by the product. There simply isn't enough support (either in print or via phone/email) but as with so many things in life, you get what you pay for. And that is in no way meant to sound as if I'm belittling the product as I was quite impressed by the build quality of the cable (not so the datascan software though - but that's a generic piece of software).

Sales of the Blatz product hasn't adversely affected sales of the DTA ConZult. These two products are aimed at a different target audience and are used for different purposes (although the main aim of both products is the same - diagnostics). It's not a case of whether our ConZult is better than the Blatz product - they do different things. Our equipment is increasingly used by performance specialists and even franchise Nissan dealers/garages who can't afford the official Nissan Consult equipment. The fact that there is a £200 price differential is not something that should enter into the equation for someone who's looking to purchase either of these products. The customer knows what he/she wants/needs and bases their decision on that.

Back to the matter at hand: a separate Blatz and/or ConZult section on the forum. From an organisational point of view it makes sense to set up separate sections. However, where do you stop? Between all of the traders on this forum there are hundreds of products which would benifit from having separate sections. If this idea is to go ahead then I would like to suggest (much like Clarkey suggested) that it becomes part of the FAQ section. We [DTA] already operate a separate support forum (which is used by a lot of members on this forum) and also ship the ConZult equipment with a comprehensive FAQ and user manual on the CD-R. I would be happy to put our FAQ's into the FAQ section and suggest Blatz UK do the same.

Finally, I want to make it clear that I do not want this thread to turn into a ConZult vs Blatz epic - which is better, why, etc - this issue has been dealt with many times over in the past.

So, if it's a comprehensive FAQ section then I say "good idea". If it is a full support section then I'm afraid my decision must be "no" for reasons I've already explained in my previous post and this one. Support should be dealt with directly between the customer and the trader/reseller/distributor.

It wouldn't be software or hardware support though, purely so that everyone would know what their readings should be roughly.

I agree support prehaps shouldn't be handled via the club as they don't make it but what people are asking for is completely different from support you would get from a software developer.

all the "questions" etc shouldn't they be asked of the person selling the equipment? ie if you can't get it working get THEIR support

when i first bought my consultz i had a stupid question, rang Danny and within minutes was sorted, again yesterday i had a question, and today received the most comphrehensive (idiot proof lol) guide to get me sorted:)

how much have you guys just forked out between you??

why should you have to be asking the questions elswhere??

recently Smithy has put a faq in his traders section because its members buying buying his stuff,

you see so many people complaining about lack of support from sellers

yet your doing this companys work for them :headvswal

you buy a boost controller, you get an install manual and user guide with it

if not the info IS available

i havn't got a thought one way or the other to whats being asked, just think your asking the wrong people;)

OK - this has been a useful exercise (despite what I initially thought to be a bad idea ...)

As suggested previously (by various people) I think there is good reason to post the following:

1. A general document stating all the STOCK performance parameters. It should be made clear that these values depict what the various parameters "should" be for a completely stock car, ie - no modifications at all, and when the car was new.

2. A comprehensive FAQ document for both the Blatz and ConZult equipment. I would not be happy posting the user manual - it contains proprietary information

3. A clear list of contact details to obtain further technical support from the reseller

I think if we can get the above together and stick it in a separate section then it will be of use to people.

Yea but this wouldn't be for support just purely for results.

Does the support that comes with Conzult cover your readings/results and what they should be and how to fix the problem on the car if the results are wrong?

Yes, we provide a comprehensive user manual which includes performance date of what the parameters should be. There is also a trouble shooting section and instructions on where to look, what to do if there are problems. If you're a registered user you have free access to a support forum over on yahoo.autos. Plus, I'm just a phone call away and can sort out most problems if not on the phone then via e-mail.

I think some people have their backs up, but for the wrong reason.

This section would be for the discussion etc of the REULTS & FINDINGS obtained from using the software/interface. That surely is the point of this club!

It is not intended as a free advert for Datascan and/or Blatz.

The same section could be used for Conzult results too.

aint a clue lol, hence i said i contacted Danny and was sorted with info

with info even I COULD understand lol

as i said mate i havn't a problem one way or the other,

but the way this started out was for info in how to get it going and questions etc or as you say problems, so someone making money from the members should be the ones sorting it

as a few have said if its to compare readings or to look at someone elses

to then know you have summat wrong then good idea

but i have noticed some are asking why can't they connect or similar so SOMEONE should be offering support;)

Sorry i didn't realise that, i see why posting the datascan up wouldn't be fair. Sorry.

Danny some of the people with datascan might move onto conZult if they find datascan a good bit of kit to have. I have seen how much option and control you do have with ConZult compared to datascan.

That is really good for ConZult to come with what the readings should. Not something i would of expected big bonus.
