Push button start

Like most people I’d love to have a push button start, but for it to be worthwhile I’d like to unlock the car from the Cat 1 alarm keyfob (as I do now), get in and hit the start button.

 

On alarm systems with remote start this would be an easy mod, but the show stopper is the 1960 steering lock. Every car has one, and yet cars are stolen, so just how effective is it, and what are the issues (insurance) of removing it?
