Traction Control, whats the light for?

On fitting a new stereo I saw a a green LED behind everything so I mounted it where I can see it. When I drive I can see it pulse with the revs of the engine.

 

Looking at a picture of a ZED for sale on here I see the same LED attached to the TC switch.

 

So my question is, what is it for and how does it work?

    From memory it has two functions, one means that it lights up when it does something and the other means it flickers in time with either wheel rotation or engine revs - need to find the manual ...
