Hi everyone

Please help if you are able

I'm attempting to compile a complete of list of garages throughout the UK that one could take your Zed to for repairs and serving.

I'll be using this list as a referrence to place into my Zed once I obtain one. Then if I brake down and it's serious the AA can tow me to the garage of my choosing and not some local tinpot affair.(I'm on the scheme were if AA are unable to sort you out they take you to the nearest specialist garage of your chousing :hyper: )

Name of Garage

Contact telephone No

Adddress or just town

Thanking you all in advance

Thanks mate your already on my list :hyper:

Thanks they did but I looking for extra's also some of them I cann't seem to find their physcial locations ie addresses it's almost as if it's some great secret, and they don't want me to find them.

It would be really useful if we could get a list of places that are at least compenent with a Zed, recommended by members.

Just what I'm trying to do but it's like coming up agaist a brick wall at full throttle. This list could help everyone on the forum but at present I get the feeling it's going to crash and burn.

Okay Zed people I'm throwing done the guantlet prove me wrong.

We'd need to make this sticky and have some sort of format (ie name, exact location, phone number) and some idea of just how good with a Zed they are (competent, specialist etc).

There are few garages in the UK I would recommend, to be honest, I have seen some disasters roll out of some garages that some members would say are the best mechanics on the planet.

Excellent well it looks like I at least have one ali on the forum :D

guy round the corner from me, in barnsley, specialises in mr2 but is a whizz with a zed!!!

:)

It's a great idea - someone needs to 'own and drive the project' (without wanting to slip into management *****x) or it'll fizzle away and not happen.

Go for it.

I'm not suggesting we make a list that deposes our offical traders - we all know they're the best in the country when it comes to Zeds. Just a handy list if you need something minor doing or break down and want to know somewhere to be trailered to who is basically competent.

I remember taking my Z to a local garage. I could see them trying to get it on their ramp - it want smack, smack, smack as the front bumper kept hitting the ramp and they didn't seem to give a shyte. I took it away and never went back. I just want to know places that won't do this.

This sounds great but we'd need more information. If I'm being picked up by a tow truck and he says: "Where do you want to go?"

And I say: "Round the corner from someone I know on the internet which specialises in MR2s", it may not really work.

:)

I don't mind collating the list with peoples comments but I do need peoples input. Such as competent or specialist knowledge.

Oh and Fairladyzgirl if you think your bloke is competent than please give his garage details

i couldnt recomend anyone in the Sheffield area,

a couple of year back when i was having a bit of trouble with mine no one wanted to know  and that included nissan specialists so i dont even bother anymore

I take my car there all the time and Scott is very good...I am sure other members will vouch.

Just keep them coming quys and when we have a nice list I'll see if I can get the big boys to keep up the details on a sticky. Don't forget to give them a rating.

Fore warned is fore armed.

Don't stop yet there must be a more out there.

A little story on this subject, I was going to do my cam belt service myself, but not having a garage and this annoying sun today rain tomorrow weather, I thought it better to let someone else do it. I considered the traders on the forum, but I the end thought that if I could do the cam belt, then my local (previously competent garage could as well, and they had done me a few favours in the past).

I have to put my hands up and say that I was wrong, they done the cam belt service ok, but I paid for their learning curve, in all the labour cost me about £400, about twice that of the traders here.

Whilst at the end of the day the Z is just a car, it’s a rather complex car, and although it’s probably a 120mile round trip the nearest garage on here, I’ll certainly be using them for bits that I can’t do myself in the future.

Don't blame you but this list is for emergencies if you've brokern down somewhere and need a garage quick like. They must be at least competent. It's only a stop gap not a list to replace our beloved trade specialists therefore they have to be people you have used and were happy with the work they did.
