My girlie and I were driving from Reading to Glasgow to see the folks. At about 4am near Warrick on the M40 I hit something massive on the motorway. :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

Natalie or I didnt even see it but it hit with a massive thump. Noticed a drop in power and knew the left indicator had smashed. Pulled over infront of another car on the hard sholder, they had also hit this thing. I reckon it was spare wheel or something cos I have black rubber scuff marks all down the side of me car. Left hand side of the bumper is wrecked, luckily the wing hasnt been damaged! Drove the the nearest services and wouldnt come on boost and had fook all power. It used 1/8th of a tank to go 10 miles  Loads of soot on the exhausts and it was chugging like a train. Spent 3 hrs taking off the intercooler ( all I had was my trusty Leatherman!) and noticed that the plastic bit had beed knocked and been bent away form the metal bit. Started my repair work with a rock, bashing it back together! Bent the metal bits back with my pliers. Found it was still leaking so wrapped black tape round it to seal it the best I could! Saw an AA man who I asked if he knew where I could get some double bond putty. Pulled a wad out of his van and said he has more if I need ( I'm with the RAC!) Hooray Mark the AA man!!

This sealed it up nicely and checked for leaks with some orange juice! Fitted it wich took about 20 mins! When I started it up it was still puffing and idling very roughly. I was gutted, 5 hours work and it still didnt work, ARRGHH!!! But after 10 mins it settled down and was as sweet at a nut, YIPEE!! :hyper:

Phoned Ryan and he put a new intercooler in the post for me, thanks Ryan! Made the rest of the drive to Glasgow with no problems!

Now, what bumper should I choose, hmmmm!

You should be a bushman mate, they do all that sort of stuff with tree bark and bits of grass. I can tell you I have heard some pretty tall stories of thier repairs but all true.

Well done I'm impressed.

Cheers, growing up in deepest darkest Africa must have helped! And all that Ray Mears survival!

I'm well impressed. I would have just pulled over and sulked until someone towed me away.

Love the dials. Never seen plasma....
