Howdy guys.

OK my car came with two nasty tape players in, neither worked, so I whipped em out only to find neither had power running to em anyway.

So I junked the two nasty units and I would like to install a nice JVC cd player I seen in halfords.

I am just unsure I will be able to do this, as the wires that are in the car make no sense whatsoever to me :(

Can anyone make head or tail of this lot ? theres a single brown wire, red, black, then one black wire that goes into a great bunch of wires, that cant be right can it ?

Anyway heres a pic of what I'm presented with, any ideas guys on if I can install a new cd player with whats there ? and also would I need a wiring harness for it ?

to be honest mate, your best bet is to get a multimeter and be 100%.

Matt,

I had the same mess, so ditched the junk of cable joints etc and bought a £9.99 Nissan adaptor lead (converts from Nissan to ISO) from Halfords, plugged it in to the two factory harness leads, the only wire than needs to be joined is just one black earth lead (you can see it with the ring connector in the picture)

Plug it in to the radio job done!

WICKED :D

Cheers Vijay I got a multimeter as well so will keep that handy just incase.

Thanks a lot DAB1 didnt know it was that easy or that Halfords did the connecter, perfect :D

Many thanks guys feel a lot happier now.

Whilst you are installing your new CD can you check what colour wires are used for each of the four speakers. The back speakers in my Zed are not connected. I took one of the back speakers out and the wires were red/black and brown. Took the stereo out and found these two wires were connected to the front speaker connections coming from the stereo. I did find five other wires that were not connected, but the colours did not match the back speaker.

Thanks

Matt

Yes mate I will let you know how the installation goes and I will want to label em up anyway as one day I would like a TV installation in the Z :)

I'll pm you when am sorted mate.

Matt :)

always wise to use the ISO adapter lead .. as the manufacturer of the head unit will void the warranty if you cut the ISO plug off the head unit

any probs give me a shout

John

i had the same problem with mine if ya head unit flashes and switches itself off just run a power supply straight from the battery, sorted

Cheers John and everyone else :) I'll let y'all know come installation time and see how I get on.

Thanks again.

Matt :)
