Hi All,

My zed is currently on a boat - probably somewhere in the east Indian Ocean.

1994 TT LWB Series III Silver Auto Leather 45K - it's for cruising!

I have a couple of quick newbie questions.

I'm sure they've been asked before, but here goes:

Fuel. Car comes off the boat.....

Can I just put Optimax in and off I go?

Or does the ECU need re-mapped?

And do I need octane booster?

Secondly (the Scottish bit), are there any LWB TT owners in West Lothian/West Edinburgh/South Fife who would have an hour to show me their car - I haven't seen one up close for over 6 months?

Hi David.

Welcome to the club :hyper: . Fuelling all depends on what the ECU expects. For example my car was imported with a "data systems hyper chip". This chip expected 100ron fuel. It was imported in 2002 but as far as I am aware none of the owners in the UK had done anything about this until I had it changed for a Nisstek one which allows Optimax. If yours has no chip (most common) then you could use any I guess as the ECU is self learning. What I would suggest is, fill it up with Optimax, drive it home and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery (This will reset the ECU) giving the ECU a chance to learn to adapt to new fuel. I aint no great techie, but this is what I would do, someone else may come along and say "what a load of bo***cks" :mac1: .

I stay in Dundee along with other owners of a 2+2 manual, 2 seater Manwell and 1 other 2+2 auto. Give me a PM and we could meet up. Going to fit my new BOVs and take my old ones round to Craig-s (2+2 manwell) sometime anyway.

Another way to meet is come along to Crail on Sunday, I should be there but probably not in the Z.

Thanks Dave,

I had the mis-forture of being born and brought up in Dundee (Monifieth), so I'm often up visiting the relatives. I'll give you a shout if I'm passing.

I used to feel the same way about Dundee until I started working away. Then once I am back I think its great

Are you going to Crail this Sunday mate? I believe it's Max Power this week.

Unsure. I am going down Saturday to pick my bike up hopefully. It will be something like a 12 hour trip. If all goes well I will go. I doubt I am taking the car though as its just too busy and you never get on the track.

If you are going let me know and I will meet up with you someplace.
