Got a hint of the new Jag XK about it, apparently this is what all the new fords will be based on.

Well I think that well and truly shut me up

Wasn't meant to shut you up :D It was meant to show that they arn't the rust-buckets that a lot of people think.

There is a huge following/fan base for all of the Fords, just the same as with the Zed, probably a different league though ;)

how can people here take the piss out of fords because of the badge. Get real, we drive nissans. The GT is also a ford, whats wrong with it, a prefectly good car. Some people need a serious wakeup call.

i think it looks quite smart - just a shame only a small proportion of it will ever find itself on a production car!

................. Fords biggest problem is that they rust and so do UK/European spec Zeds! So the differance is???????

To continue this, so does any car in the UK/European market. J-spec 300zx's (or any other jap imports) are not immune to rust either. A J-spec car generally has less rust because the roads in Japan are not salted in winter - if a J-spec car has spent a few years on UK roads it will rust at the same rate.......

Have to agree about the mass-market thing though. Nissan are probably the Japanese equivalent of Ford. There are indeed probably an equal number of 13 year old fords in the same condition as a 13 year old ZX. Don't forget the RS range has an ownership base to exceed the 300zx numbers.

However I would say that on a percentage (of numbers sold) basis there are probably more 13 year old Primeras in good condition than 13 year old Mondeos. I would always trust the mechanics of a Japanese car over any other - my daily driver is a Mercedes SLK but I still have more faith in my 300zx ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Every car make/model has its good and bad examples. Fords are so easy to get parts for and run day to day if they go wrong, i've had 7 ford granadas and none ever went wrong (apart from the last which the timing chain snapped). Not amazingly engineered but built to last.

Don't get me wrong cause the zed, my mr2 and my supra were all good cars but my mr2 had horrible electrical faults and the supras bodywork was terrible.

Seems like another Ford case of death by foucus group. Im sure the original design by the car designer was awesome but Ford watered and watered it down so the exterior looks naff. Interior is great though.

Wasn't this concept car meant to be the replacement design for the Mondeo? Think alot of the design Looks amazing, not too keen on the doors, but love its OTT body-styling, However as its only a concept and selling as a Possible Ford Mondeo replacement, for that sort of Price-Bracket it'll be marketed in, I can't see much of the shown features ever making it on to the ACTUAL production Car...

The problem is most ppl on this forum remember the "good" fords like the MK1 and MK2 Escort and the MK1 Fiesta,

But we also remeber the crap that they where kicking out untill the bought mazda, like the MK3 Escort onwards (OMFG what a pile of crap) and MK2 Fiesta onwards etc...

The only decent fords where done by Cosworth.

Any when most ppl around here where inthe MK3 XR3i's and XR2's I was in a Lancia Prisma 1600 Twin-cam (a idiot in a GTE had a bad crash while following me around a corner, he withdrew his Italian crap comment later and bought a Delta)

Anyway to the matter in hand the car looks nice but I wouldnt buy one when it's rival would be 350z

Oh and what the hell is that "new" Focus it's FUGLY

I still like the new Focus RS, in black blue or red but not that horrible tangerine colour yuk :(

My two pence is that you're right, whenever cosworth breath onto a ford it ends up being something special but since they've forgotten their roots they've lost the plot a little.

The old escort cossies and sierra cossys were fantastic performance cars, and the new "ST" range have a lot to live up to.

The Ford GT is a step in the right direction, but they seriously need a fast performance REAR wheels drive coupe to compete with the likes of nissan, mazda and lexus (when they release it)

Because they've bought Jaguar though they've shot themselves in the foot because they know that if they build something to rival the new jag xk people will buy the ford rather than the jag version because it'll be cheaper.

Resurrect the barking RS200 from the grave, update it and re release it along side a cosworth range of focus and mondeo and i'll start paying some more attention.

Mondeo Cosworth - 280bhp/320bhp v6 turbo, 4x4/RWD maybe?

Focus Cosworth (which they were originally going to do with a v8 and RWD but cancelled it)

A light weight Cougar/Capri/Probe replacement with a RWD chassis and turbo engine?

The Ford Focus has got good handling if you get used to the body roll though the standard engines have no oomph at all.

But yeah the old RWD fords with tunable engines were wicked. But open the bonnet on any new car now and you see lots of yucky plastic manifolds and covers.

And sadly most young lads (chavs?) would prefer to make the car look fast rather than shoving some huge webber carbs on the engine like car enthusiasts of old would.
