You'll be ok for 1 week. but i wouldnt leave it longer than that. If it fails the MOT then I would SORN asap

You have 14 unofficial days grace on your tax, you will ideally have to keep it off road but then again my understanding is police won't report you in that period and even if DVLA were informed you would mostly like get a letter advising you tax the vehicle pronto. Get your MOT done mid week and don't worry too much. I would hazard a guess police are even less interested in ann untaxed vehicle as long as it is MOT'd and Insured especially since the DVLA became computer automated for tax checking. However my best advice would be take her off the road foor several days until MOT'd.

I think I'm right when I say that you CANT drive your car if it's registered as SORN.

I have a similiar question. I am picking my new bike up on Friday. It doesnt have any tax on it, but has 12 months MOT. Would me riding it up without tax be OK and does the 14 day rule apply in the same way. It will be MOTd and Insured.

Does the car still have a valid MOT?

No. However it will be a few days for this to show up on the computer but if the police stopped you they would more than likely tell DVLA. Next question, how are you going to get it to the garage for MOT?

You have NEVER had any time after the due date for tax but there is an unofficial 14 days grace whereby they don't prosecute in that time however this is irrelevant now as Lee has SORN'd his car.

you see i was sure that you had to either declare it SORN or re tax it by the due date or it was an instant ban, im sure that was the new rules.

And as for getting it to the MOT place, i dont know :headvswal
