Correct. VVt was dropped for emissions regulations, but differnet cams were fitted to make up for the power loss.

I hear a lot about emissions. So does that mean pre 96 cars don't pass their mot? I mean they must so does that mean the mot is less strict than the guidlines for new cars?

Yes they do pass the MOT. In fact, at my last MOT the tester commented that my Zed ran cleaner than quite a few new cars! Not bad for a 16 year old car! Next MOT is this Friday - fingers crossed all goes well. Don't think there should be any problems though ... (famous last words before heaps of money pours from my wallet ...)
