OK so it's probably not the best site to be asking advice on photographic issues but my internet viewing is somewhat limited and slow at the moment so I was hoping I could get some advice here first of all.

 

Basically i've had a small brainstorm at bringing together my hobbies/interests and hopefully making a bit of money as a bonus as well as the satisfaction of it all.

 

I'm looking at creating a website dedicated to selling my own motorsport photographs as mounted prints basically from local racetracks etc.

 

What I want to know is all the legalities involved in selling photographic prints and the bst way to go about setting up a website or subscribing to a service.

 

Anyone here sell their own or have any information/links as to which would help me out as a starting point.

The photographer owns copyright - think about paparazzi photographers - their subjects are often unwilling but have no say in what happens to the photos nor get any money.

 

I'm not sure what's happened if you took them on private land without permission though.

 

I have a mate who works at a photo agency and also work with a number of professional photographers. Generally they're comissioned for a length of time and their employer owns the copyright (second useage is negotaible).

yep your right for "public" photos m8

the nightmares begin when your going on to places like above

not exactly sure how it works but one example my m8 takes photos of grand national every year and has to be licensed by aintree, not sure what that entails and entitles him to, but the license must be for something lol
