*Warning* - Don't buy anything from user 'gixxar'

As you know, I purchased a replacement engine for my dead zed. Said engine was for sale on here by above user who not only claimed that this engine was a low mileage engine, but also that it was 100%.

After seeing the engine also for sale on ebay, I thought it would be a decent one. Being a long standing forum member, I trusted his judgment and bid against the engine and won.

I guess in my naivety, I was wrong to do this, but because the user had been a forum member/subscriber for such a long time I thought I was safe.

Wrong. After collecting engine in the dark, myself and Jason took it back to his to thoroughly inspected it about 3 weeks later when both of us had the time.

After inspection, we came to the following conclusions. The engine was in a poor state and was not the same engine as advertised ref. pic which showed a very clean engine not sat on a subframe with cam covers. The engine I had infact got, had its cam belt covers missing, not an issue but was quite obvious this was not the same engine as the photo indicated. A subframe and steering rack were also attached, again, this was not on the photo and quite why someone would put one back on to an engine is beyond me.

To add to this, a compression test was done and was found that both rear cylinders were totally shot. Below 50PSi pressure in each. The dip stick top was not there, in its place was a piece if hose pipe and a jubilee clip. A spark plug was also missing so one cylinder was also exposed to the elements.

Now the little things I can kinda put behind me as I was mainly interested in an engine that was supposed to be 100%.

When questioning the user in a nice friendly and civil matter via PM asking that some recompense be due, I received no response. A second message was sent about 3 days later requesting, again politely for a response to the previous polite message. Still nothing. I seeked advise from Mac who requested I pass on his details to him and yet still nothing from user gixxar aka Lee Paulton. I had also been copying in Mac on correspondence so that nothing was untoward.

Pretty disgusted that a forum subscriber can be so ignorant to what is quite a serious matter. Member has not offered an explanation in any shape or form, let alone a part/full-refund. I am now £400 out of pocket and very angry about this.

So just a warning people, do not buy from mentioned user. Can not be trusted.

Non-subscribers purchase from the forum, so that would be non-beneficial to them.

So Sorry to hear that m8!!! Why do plp have to be like this??? He should at least answer your mails!!! this does'nt happen often, but when it does, GOD does it p_ss you off!!!!

Si, firstly send him a letter by registered post giving him time to respond, say 7 days. Then ggo to your local County Court offices and issue a summons. You can ring them up and they will send it out to you along with notes on filling it in. You will have to pay a fee to get it issued approx £35, but this is then added to the amount you are claiming, so he in fact pays. He then has 14 days to contest it, state why he won't pay, or pay up. If he contests it, he and you will end up before a magistrate to put both your sides of the story. If he ignores it, you can then firstly request a 'Judgement' be made against him, which really affects his ability to get credit, loans, mortgage etc., and you can then get bailiffs to seize goods to the value, TV,s cars, furniture whatever is availble. I know, because I have used this for debt collection on many occasions, one of which was against a TV personallity who paid up immediately he received the summons. Go for it but do it the right way.

Before you all start shouting your mouths off when I put this engine on ebay I said it was 100% running which it was, I had it running for nearly 2 hours with no problems, he ask about compression test which I told him I had never done one! here is the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10402&item=4612936546 as to not responding, some of us have lives out side the forum, no one forced him to buy it he bid on it and I told him all I knew about the engine.

does not equal

The fact that Gixxar has not responded in all this time tells it own story. Any genuine person would be in touch immediatedly to offer help in what ever form. this guy obviously has a guilty conscence. Send him a summons I say and let a magistrate decide.

I think it'd be small claims court job, not couty court if it came to that as the amount is under £3000.

You can get all the forms online and it only costs about £60. No solicitor needed.

I'm not saying whos right or wrong as I don't have all the facts.

The guy's uncontactable, he won't respond to PMs. A whole host of people have been trying his number. Also, when sold, he worked under the sudenim of Mark Gunnel. His real name is Lee Paulton.

HE USED A FALSE NAME

HOPE YOU BOTH GET THIS SORTED OUT MATE.

Hi all, i have just red every reply on this post apart from the ones Mac took down ( your getting soft mate) it seems to me that Gizzer or what ever he chooses to call him self did not reply straight away, that shows that he knows he was telling porkies, he doesnt really care, he was very busy. 2nd, he states that he has a life outside the forum, "i bloody hope i do aswell, and everyone on this forum", but it doesnt hold water when he gives that reason for not responding, i do 16hr days most the time and i still have time to either reply to emails and send back msg that the lads have sent me, WHY, its because WE are a close net forum, he is not part of that hence he doesnt see the importance of this situation, now we all know that these cars are our pride and joy, maybe this is not the case with Gizzer, i have never seen or heard of the lad so i cannot comment on this person. But i do agree with other people, he did state sum false hoods, 100 percent running that doesnt mean working, ie under load, bloody hell my misses car runs all day just standing still, but put it in 1st and it all goes tits up.

This is just my input ok hope you both get it sorted and quick, we shouldnt be having these issues on a forum like this, there shouldnt be any funnys on here when it comes to buying from one another.

see you all soon.

I tell you what, you send me a summons, don't just threaten me do it, I got nothing to hide he bought the engine of ebay sold as seen, I told him all I knew about the engine and I hear 4 weeks later that it has bad compression on 2 cylinders, I told him that I had not done a test but had the engine running with no over heating or any other problems.

  • Author

So why have you taken until now to respond? I sent you a perfectly reasonably PM the week before last and I've heard Zero from you.

I have said if you think I have ripped you off then summons me like they have told you, I sold the engine as described, you even asked me if I had done a compression test and I told you no, but you still bid on it. You was not the only one bidding.

  • Author

Again, why didn't you respond to my previous messages??? I've heard nothing from you until I posted this up.

Said engine was originally for sale on here.

As at the time I couldn't and yes it was but that changes nothing I have not lied about it I told you everything about it I knew

You've had 2 weeks to get back to me on this and the only time you respond is because of a post like this. You've been online and read all of my messages and still nothing. I don't buy that I'm afraid.

Well thats good cause I'm not selling it, I was completely honest about the engine!
