I had a pair of new Falken tyres fitted on the back of my Zed.

Straight away the handling was terrible - all high speed stability was gone.

After a bit of persuasion, I got Black Circles to swop them for Dunlops and the problem's gone away.

No more cheapo tyres for me now. It's brand names my mother's heard of from now on.

(I had Falkens the past and they were ok - 'ow queer!)

I had a mismatch of cheap-ish tyres on the front of mine and Dunlop.s on the back, drove perfect , iv,e now fitted Pirelli PZero,s all round and its fooking horrible , it wanders and tries to follow every undulation in the road , would,nt reccommend em :smash: :smash: :smash:

I hate pirelli, they don't grip and they wear out to quick.

Avons by far better, I love em and I am hard on tyres.

The ones I got on mine now are from Japan, I don't like them but will have to wait until I get some wheels to put new ones on.

Ditto - tried Pirellis on lesser cars in my youth and never again :wack:

The best tyres ever IMO are Goodyear GSD3 Eagles - not one brown pants moment with those fitted to my zx even in the wet

However they didn't last that long. I needed replacements pretty quick last year so the best choice available (right away) at the time were Dunlop SP Sport 9000. I have to say they are very good - excellent wet performance (V-tread design), decent price (255/40/17 rear and 235/45/17 front) and they haven't gone bald yet.......

Tyres are very important - skimp on rubber on any car, let alone a 160mph beast, and you may end up in a ditch/hedge/coffin. Leave the cheapo brands to chavs in their Novas.

Dunlop SP 9000 - that's what I got now - seem great.

I spoke to the tyre man at length about sidewall load strengths and chose the 9000s on that basis. Unfortunately I can't remember the details of what was said. :smash:

come to think about it, i've got new falkens on my Z, and its all over the place

i had falken on mine for three years but last year i put some khumo ecsta's on the rear and im well impressed, ive just put some marshal power racers on the front as i had one in my garage(long story) and again im impressed,

the falkens wore out so quick and im glad ive got rid.

just dont know which tyres to stick with as i like to keep the same on all 4 corners.

Do you think that certain tyres perform differently on different cars,

My friend has dunlop 9000s on his poopra and doesn't like them, he is going back to P zeros

I'd say so, yes.

I had different spec Falkens on my 300 before and they were fine.

I've got cheapies (Marshall) on the front still, so mixing makes a difference too.

I'm just glad I got them changed after a few weeks use!

falkens deffo make different tyres m8

and they recently changed the compound, as the guy i know at the tyre place said the ones ive recently bought are the last of them and were changing to (i can't remember lol)

ive been out in the rain last couple of days and we have a lot of those stupid red roads round here that are a nightmare in the wet, and my car handled A1

as many keep saying tyres deffo not one of the things to be done on the cheap

I'd say so - hence the reason car manufacturers fit specific brands to the cars when new.

However I reckon in general you can't go wrong with the premium brands commonly used as OEM fittings. There are exeptions though - I found Continentals & Bridgestones were crap on a Mk3 Supra and Avons fekking crap on my ZX.

Any decent brand with the "V" diredtional tread pattern (Goodyear/Dunlop sp9000/Michelin Pilot Sport/Toyo Proxes etc) should be fine on a 300zx.
