Hi all, I'm going to Ireland in May for a bit of touring across the south and am planning on taking the zed, however, as far as I can find out they don't sell Optimax etc over there, can anyone clarify what the best fuel available over there is. It's a J-spec and anything less than 98 RON sends it into safety boost!

If there's nothing available can anyone recommend a good octane booster, I want to resolve this if I can as I don't want to have to drive like a pussy too much! :wack:

Many thanks in advance :duffer:

Baggins knows a good octane booster, the Halfords NOS octane booster does NOT work, it does nothing at all! And caused me major problems!

Yes, I've heard a few horror stories about these so-called octane boosters and engine cleaners etc, I'll give Ryan (Baggins) a shout, many thanks bud

would be a much better option IMO to have a JWT chip put in, that way it will be fine on 95ron.

I have never heard of low octane fuel sending a Z into safety boost, I have an import Zed and have run it on low otane continually, without an loss of power. Is you car chipped perhaps.

Low RON fuel if your pushing the car hard will cause it to DET. The DET sensore will hear this and put the car into safety boost.

that's right, only poxy 95 oct. available over here. I use Millers octane booster, i buy it locally but i'm sure you can get it from a millers oil supplier over there.

What part of the Ireland you going to? I'm on the Waterford /Kilkenny border.

Sorry guys, been away for a couple of days, just got back! Thanks for the advice, the car might well be chipped to be honest so thats prob. what caused detonation.

Chewie, we're getting the ferry to Waterford then driving across the south to far West Cork then up to Co Kerry for ten days. I love it over there, it's something else. I lived in Baltimore for a while a few years ago and it was the most amazing time of my life!
