It is usually on the cd from the manufacturer. This error usually happens when you try to install a PCMCIA card before you havce intalled the adaptor.

The PCMCIA adaptor in the laptop. Ther slot that the card fits into needs to be installed also, hence the INF file error...

Uninstalled it all and started again from scratch started again with Installation file 0xserINF and it came up with "the device was installed correctly but could not be started [Error 0x0000045E]. As for updates they are all installed as far as I am aware.

Can you give some details? Laptop make and model, hardware make and model, drivers etc?

Is there any entry in the system and application event logs???

Sorry mate but how do I find the application event logs, as this has never happened before I do'nt know how to find the relevant info. :o

start, run the type eventvwr. You should have 3 logs, system, application and security.

Go to system and start at the top and see if any are showing red. Copy the details here...do the same for app log...

To find teh event logs - Right click My Computer & left click manage.

Under that should be Event Viewer - open that and click on Application Logs.

Angus in probably right - if you've never used the PCMCIA cards before its probably a driver related issue.

This event ID is a warning message that you can safely ignore. The warning basically means that an application registered to receive Plug and Play (PnP) device interface notifications but didn't respond to a notification within 30 seconds.
