This is a hoot. I am in my ZX waiting for the RAC van as i am very sure my clutch cable has snapped. I was fortunate to breakdown next to a house that has an open wireless switch so i can post this message lol.

 

How easy is it to fit a new clutch cable?

be suprised if your clutch cable has snapped.....they hydraulic mate....at least mine is ?

im sure the z doesnt have a clutch cable sure theyre hydrolic ive got an auto so cant be deffinate on this, very much doubt they would have the parts to fix it there and then anyway tow you to garage/home job methinks.

RAC van turned up and lo he opened the top of a liquid bottle at the top leftish of the engine bay and it was empty. RAC dude said the hydraulic slave unit has failed. If i need a new gearbox slave unit thingy can i get one and fit it myself with the zed on ramps or is it a garage jobby. A call to Zedworld near Tamworth it looks like. Ho hum.

check lines for damage/leaks seals fail on the master cylinder,and a new seal kit for the master cyl is available for mike feeny in the traders section

 

id imagine the fluid has run low from a leak then loss of pedal due to lack of fluid

Slave cylinder easy to replace with car on ordinary ramps.

Managed to drive the car 3 miles home with no clutch in 1st gear. Start the car in 1st gear it jumps forwards and drive at 30mph at 4500rpm trying not to wheelspin lol. Googling has found me a guide to bleed the hydralics and the slave unit seems to be fairly accesibile so i will give it a go with the front on some ramps.
