A motorist drove for 60 miles at speeds of 135mph after the accelerator on his BMW car jammed and his brakes failed.

Surely you could slow it down with the brakes or handbrake or turn the engine off before you got doing 135mph in a 1.8 automatic?!?!

Does an R reg 318 auto even do 135mph?

and with an auto you can just pop it into neutral too, cant see the problem. Also if you just cut the engine it will lose drive and coast to a halt.

Got to agree with every word you said there.... :D

You could always take advantage of the situation and see what top speed your car does??? :x:

agree with power steering - just make sure you're in a straight line and then cut off

surely you can pop an autobox into N even if it is jamming

you can ratchet the handbrake on to reduce your accelleration

sounds a bit dodgy that everything went at the same time

:xxx:

I think if my cable jamed open & the auto box got stuck in drive.....errr I think I would try the key next. What a fokin numpty, did not want to lose his power steering...I bet He did not need his heated seats on as his pants & him are full of shi*.....

I don't know about him giving up driveing for life, he needs to think about giving up on life if he can't turn off a fookin key...... :D
