hi bought a z with no speedo working. auto box in mind of its own and steering light then heavy, have since replaced the clocks and the speed sensor but still no reading on speedo, i havnt had the chance to drive the car properly yet with this problem. can anyone please help.

Sure as hell it'l be the speed sensor or the connector to it will be dirty. start there. its on the gearbox housing near the propshaft. take the connector off and give it a clean first, then if that makes no difference it will be the sensor its self.

thanks lads the connections look clean. but the connector running from the clock side underneath the car doesnt look like the original wire , its a red cable ( looks like a cable off a lawnmower) with 2 bullet connections to it, so had to snip brown end on sensor to put bullets on to connect this up. ( some bodge job done on it ). where does the cable from underneath running up to the clocks go, traced it back a little then just dissappeared off somewhere. they are uk clocks i just got them off ryan. cheers gary.

i'll try get one Graham but im gonna try trace that lawnmower wire which i think must go up into car somewhere first. cant get it back up on ramps till wednesday. cheers gary.

hi graham it originally had a convertor on but been taken off for british clocks. but believe it or not left the car for few hours and drove it and speedo has started to work. got in touch with ian (mac) and he told me to disconnect battery overnight to reset the ecu. yipee the problem seems resolved. many thanks for your help. cheers gary.
