Which estate or 4x4?

I'm thinking of buying a used estate or cheap 4x4. Needs to have a big boot, lots of extras and be good on fuel to make up for the Z. Performance is not important - my other car is quite quick...

I was thinking of a Discovery or Omega estate or something?

Have up to £15K to spend.

What secret bargains are there to be had in the car world at the moment?

From £8k up for a decent model.

Chris without reservation buy the mitsubishi Legnum (galant VR4 estate) you can pick up these for well under 15K, they have leather, TV, active suspension, 4wd, cd, electric everything, oh and a 2.6twin turbo engine and performance to scare a 300zx!, I had one of these on loan for a week, and it is an awesome machine.

Yeah, and they are the best looking estate as well

I agree that the VR4 is one of the best looking estates although it attracts a high insurance group and goes through petrol like it's going out of fashion.

High performance isn't at the top of the list and fuel economy is important so the VR4 has got to be out of the equation.

I'd say get a normal Galant estate & stick the VR4 kit on it wink.gif

Volvo T-5R as the Tool Meister says!!!! wink.gif

After getting shot of the Mrs Turbos Range Rover we were looking at replacing with an estate. Volvo T-5, Toyota Camry V6 Estate(rare as rocking horse shite) or Bimmer estate! Not a Merc mate, nice estates but arse engine sizes.

VR4 ohhhh how nice and rediculous???

This is strange but before I saw your posts I happened to pass a Mitsubishi dealer today and called in to look at 4x4's and not expecting much.

Had a look at the new Galant which has not been out long and it is one mean looking car. For 2002 there are only 3 models in the range now, plus the VR4 which is only sold through Ralliart dealers. Trim is the same apart from leather across the range so even the bottom 2 litre Classic (previously Sport) is fully loaded with all the extras and VR4 style body kit and wheels.

Without asking they offered me 3 grand off the RRP cos they are desperate to shift them. So I could get it brand new for 15K with leather! If I can find a used one that would be even better and might just go for it.

Looked at Omega's too and they are seriously kitted out and pretty cheap for what you get.

Had a look at Land Rover FreeLanders and Discovery's but they are well expensive, not really that much room and crap on fuel.

I'll take a look at some Volvo's tomorrow but the Mitsi looks like a real bargain right now.
