For the boffins Z to ZX to Z Why?

These cars started of as Z's then they moved on to ZX's and now they are back to Z with the 350. Why has the Z gone from Z to ZX to Z.

    Well the 350 is 'Z' instead of 'ZX' becuase its supposed to be an update of the original Z-cars, rather than the 300zx.

     

    I think the 280Z was changed to 280ZX as a revision, rather than a completely new car...and it just carried on from there. Not 100% sure on that though.

    I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that all the 'ZX' veriety are 2+2, whereas all the 'Z' are only 2+0!

    Ofcourse this doesn't stand for the 2+0 version of our own Z32, but it does for the others :D

    most 260z were 2+2

     

    Just looked in "300zx - Enthusiasts companion". Apparantly the ZX singnified a more up-market luxury than the original "Z".

     

    Unfortunalty until the Z32 was released, this also meant "less sporty".
