I've had some close calls over the past month with my ZX, loosing the back end in the wet and on ice. I'm looking at fitting traction contol....can anyone recommend any good suppliers? Also, I understand its benefits, but will I loose any performance by fitting this, and are there any other negs it may cause?

Get the traction from Johnny at Grasshopper. Fitment isn't too bad providing you don't mind a few wiring connections into the ecu harness or removing a few interior parts to run the wiring. If you can't fit it yourself then I can recommend someone.

There is abolutely NO negative points in fitting this system. You can simply switch it off when you don't want it to work. (Providing your buy the adjustable system)

When driving in wet/damp conditions with the adjustable system, you can adjust the traction to allow a % slip before it cuts the power(hard cut or soft cut). The traction will allow the maximum amount of power to the wheels so that you are able to accelerate safely.

Unfortunatley there is nothing that will save you on ice. The traction only works effectively providing you don't exceed the grip of the tyres.

If your Z is manual then you can also opt for launch control which will allows you to build boost before you engage the clutch.

I have this URL in my reference list for Traction Control: http://www.racelogic.co.uk/

It was taken from a posting last year, but I cannot recall who had this system fitted?

From memory I think I found/linked to a 300ZX specialist site in Australia which had write-ups on the system's performance - launch control, etc... Everything was very positive I recall.

Hope this helps. Geoff

the question is how much do you pay for this lot

what about that motec engine management, that has lauch controll and all the other goodies built into it.

You can see the installation write up on twinturbot.net

BTW - If I had this system fitted first time around, it would have saved my @ss

I also got my system from Johnny (hey where's my backhander Johnny!) and it works great. Racing, normal hard driving or for saftey.

If you are short on cash forget the launch control and perhaps full throttle shift is a little excessive. But you would be dissapointed without the adjustable option.

If you are not to far from me (M25/M40) and get it soon I could help you fit it, I've done this twice now, not that difficult.

Yup, I have the benefit of experiencing the traction control in both Steve's and Jez's Z yesterday. Very impressive. Toying with the idea myself!

Steve, why is it everytime I leave your gaff I end up spending money?

lol - I thought it was the other way around. I got mugged by you and Jez, for some folded, in broad daylight.

These Z'z seem to be a bottomless pit when it comes to spending money on them.

ThankZ Steve.E and Jez for the mention.

Just got back from the Autosport Show at the NEC. I went with Blitz and HKS. Some great new toys soon to come out.

Traction Control.

Z Guys give me a bell and I will help you.
