Mac1 is one of them, but all the people I have raed posts from who have had a conversion say it's PANTS, leave a manual a manual and an auto an auto. But I do'nt know as I have never owned or got on with auto's maybe when I am an OAP I will get an auto as easier to drive.

I have had a manual conversion, in fact I did it with my son in about 7 hours. Pretty straight forward actually, and the car is so much better for it. I say that because I bought the car and discovered the auto box was a bit woolly / vague or not very positive going up through the gears under heavy throttle. My car is a clone of yours, same colour and an 'L' reg, what are you after pal.

all the conversion thread I've read said how happy they were....except Mac, who's syncro's failed.

Oh, so you just want to be like me then :x:

I just want to know what it performs like, is it just as fast as when it was an auto or faster or whatever?

Also do you like the colour of your car lol (read my other post)

Mac1 does not count as his car is bound to make mine look silly either way

Had mine done in November, seems more responsive now. But really havent driven it alot since and now its in the bodyshop.

I liked the Auto, as it suited the car as a sports tourer, but for a bit more fun on the country roads, then manual, as you seem to have more control.

mine was done about 18 months ago and im well happy with it. i liked the auto but it blew up on me. havent looked back since (much). nicer to have that control and be able to throw the gears in while youre mashing up the tarmac

Not really given mine a good drive yet, as when I had the conversion done, I had it decatted, but havent reinstalled the o2 sensors yet, so been driving very carefully.

Every zed feels different, but I've driven 2 converted zed's and they drove the same as an original manual.

Both were on 1 bar boost, and felt a bit faster than mine which was on stock at the time..although mine now feels faster with 1 bar boost....but I dont think thats to do with the conversions.

I guess they will be maginally slower than a original Manual TT(just like a regular auto is;)) but nothing significant (were talking 15-20hp according to nissan)

I need to know why mine is the only knacka

all the gears are fine. first is awesome, especially when you roll along at about 8-ish mph to start your tubbies off, then floor the fekker!!!!

i kept the auto ecu in (it was a JWT auto) and it was fine, although ive since got a John Dixon installed.

after the conversion it seemed a little slower, but my auto was mated up to an HKS ALC-2 which made it faster (and probably killed it too  )

Ok, i think it must just be mine that has other problems then, thought it might be an auto to manual problem of some sort.

whats yours like Old Zed?

I drive mine to the limit of the prevailing conditions. Top speed so far is 148mph. I love pissing off Audi twin pipe TT's by pushing them until they move over. They think they are the best, as if. Whats your problem. It sounds as though things are not as they should be. My car is standard at the moment although I do have an ECU chipped by JWT ready to fit, but is currently suffering from a mild 'pinking' problem. Until that is cured, I am a bit concerned about fitting the upgraded ECU and boost jets.

I think what you need is to get the car to a specialist who knows the 300 and run consult and give it a once over, you may have a boost leak, running in saftey etc. Once your happy with the car running well, then concentrate on the modifications.

Barry

Had mine done years ago and it's been absolutely fine. Only problem was that it munched the standard clutch in a couple of weeks and I had to upgrade to a heavier duty one. 3rd gear is a hoot !

Mine is still pulling hard at 148mph but the road and my balls give out. Have you done an ECU check to make all is working well. I know it will not show up boost leaks etc., but at least all the electronics should be tested. my car goes like f**k through the gears and I am looking forward to a track day in May. It sounds as tho' you may have other problems. Being up north, why not get jeff at Zedworld to have a look at it with the Conzult.

Yes however how many people are going to go to all that expense and trouble of converting then admitting it was not as good as some people claimed? LOL

Yes my syncros have gone but that’s not the reason why I regret doing it. Another thing while I am on......................

There is a 9 second Z using a VG30 engine in the US and guess what its an auto not a poxy slow lumpy crunching shity Nissan gearbox LOL.

Before I had my monster build there was not a single manual Z that EVER over took me and many tried I tell thee
