On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted

a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a

friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed

through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons

to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre,

to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly

140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red

lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up

real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was

arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the

film went underground until a DVD release a few years ago.

My opinion, the people involved in that are a bunch of fooking ****ers. They should all be locked up for that.

On a track or empty clearly visable roads i'd say yeah thats great, but that was just the most fooking stupid thing ive seen in a long time.

If he managed to kill a kid or a few peopple or whoever, would we all be saying wow how cool is that! or what a fooking bunch of coonts doing that in a city?

Sorry, all my opinion but :xxx: :xxx: :mac1:

Seems fake to me,

the engine sound is too fast for the car and you can hear the sound being mixed from one sound point to another without any care, deffinetly dubbed.

Its from a Famous film that got banned, the video footage is real. Car sounds are usually always dubbed in Films.

Im with you Got 5 kids a wife 2 parents and loads of other relatives !

Would not be so fookin clever if your kid was seen being splashed across a car at 140+ in the name of art ?

Im all for fast cars and stuff but this is mindless.

Having said that it awsome driving but in the wrong place :mac1:

What a nutter! Jumping those red lights like that too!

NICK. I agree with you mate. BUT! and its only a little BUT! That's entertainment today bud and if you consider what people need from the tele and movies now-a-days its no supprise that us the general public are sometimes put at risk? Saying that. I feel the same could be done with special effects with the technology that we have around now. So although I do enjoy a bit of "Ghost Rider" I am fed up with the same 'ol same 'ol stuff and unless it stops getting glamourised its only going to get worst until, as you said some poor fooker is going to get killed.

Yep, can't help but agree. There are a few close shaves in there, and Formula 1 or not, he was damned lucky not to hit a car pulling out from a sidestreet or something. On an F1 track all the cars are (generally) headed round it in the same direction, and there's nothing else out there... public roads are an entirely different can of worms.

a similar thing happened when they were making the French Connection with Gene Hackman. the bit where he's chasing the metro train in his car - not sure who was driving but they were told just to drive without stopping on a public road with real peds and cars!

Merde!!
