as most of you know i got pulled yesterday cos of my window tints.

but i cant make my mind up what to do about them i can either have a lighter tint fitted, just have clear windows, buy some standard windows and swop them with my "illegal" windows for shows and meets, or just leave them as they are as i wasnt given any ticket to get signed by an official inspector i was just fined given the results and TOLD to get them sorted in ten days or i COULD face a prohibition if i get caught again.

go down the cop shop and ask to have them tested and ask for a certificate if they are legal and keep it in the car

Having tings in the rear quarter windows only looks really crap. So I'd either rip them out or just get a light tint for the two side windows using the same tint for the two rear quarter windows.

Leave the rears alone :)

Just go for the legal limit on the sides.

Did they use a calibrated light meter ?

Do not have different shades of tint in the car.

I would either have no tint, have the same tint all over or, as posted in the poll - Fook the police...

ive been phoneing around some tinting companies today and just about all of them said whatever they put on will be illegal

the lightest shade they do lets 54.4% light through and the legal requirement is 70%

even coloured shades such as red or blue are illegal, as i was thinking of haveing red tints all around, but if this is illegal aswell it just seems a waste of money.

i see my tints as a major attribution to how my car looks and am absoluteley gutted i may be spoiling the look of it.

im seriously considering leaving the tints as they and buying some separate clear glass and just useing the tints for shows and meets in summer when the roof is usually off and the usually down windows down.

that sounds like a good plan to me mate, and you're right, it really does add to the look of your Z.

Personally, I am gonna go against the grain 'cos I like to have the rear screen and rear quarters blacked out and leave the sides clear.

 

But that's just me.

Get lighter tints, it will be cheaper in the long run.

My side rears are black and drop glass has no tint, It was like that when i got it and it looks shit in my oppinion. :x:

If , for instance , I`d just discovered my cambelt had snapped I would wonder about someone making such a fuss about " tint-no-tint " LOL . No offence , but unless you`re famous and need the privacy , or you`re ashamed of being seen driving a Zed , I wouldn`t spend so much time worrying about such things ..Be happy to have the car . There could be worse things to worry about , mate .

i would really be interested on any policemans views or any advice on where i stand if for instance i kept my tints as they are, and got pulled again seen as i was NOT given anything to get signed by an inspectorate just fined and told what COULD happen if i was caught again,

normally i dont get the car out this early in the year it was just that id just fitted something and wanted to see how it was running,

and when i am out in it(as ive already said) its usually windows down roof off

so what would the chances of me getting pulled then?

Go to a descent window tinting company who have a calibrated light meter. Get your tint tested if its illegal its go to go simple. Pentagon Tinting near me have a meter but im miles away. Looking at your picture they are way to dark. The legal tint is very light almost like a very light smoke.

I've had all this before when I had a black merc and I didn't do anything, just left them as they were. At the end of the day if they're illegal how are window tinting companys aloud to run a business thats suppying an illegal service? Its an utter pap law, leave them on mate.

If possible mate keep the clear screens in the boot so if you do get pulled you can say........LOOK.

its just, i think the windows are gonna be too big to keep in the boot especialy with an ice install, not to mention the targas

just have to keep em in my garage and keep fingers cossed

so all us people with tinted windows we have to take them out.
