Right a warning light on my dash came on today after i gave the car a short blast, i turned the car off and started it up again and it never came back on but i'm curious as to waht it is. I've checked my very helpful japanese owners manual to see what it is but the most i can make of it is something to do with the exhaust or cat?

The lgiht is say the shape of a cat (no the feline kind) with 4 heat vapours above it?

any idea what it means?

it's been sitting for a few weeks now and it's been damn foggy.. so i was just taking it a wee run in again. Never do ne it before and it's only done it once so is it anything to worry about? or what's the general cause of it overheating?

Could mean your cats are on the way out it happened to mine before I de-catted. When they where taken off they where all burnt up inside.

What it usually means is that you have a loose coilpack connector and unburnt fuel is being chucked down into the cats.

It happened on my last Zed, intermittently, no warning, just when it felt like it.

Started to happen a wee bit more often and I noticed a slight drop in performance at the same time.

Long story short, turned out to be an intermittent coil pack. Changed the coil pack and it never happened again. Could stand to be corrected here, but I reckon on the times the coil pack didnt spark, unburnt fuel went into the cat and ignited there. Causing overheating.

Could have been coincidence I suppose ??

Does this mean I got it right ??

Whoo hoo !!

Alan...

coilpack may sound right.. one of the black caps came off yesterday and i had bother putting it back on again, maybe it's not on correctly?..

btw, how the h*ll do you put them back on properly?

Should just clip on. My last Zed had a few broken clips, so I was advised to put a small dab of Silicone or instant gasket on it to hold it in place till I got it fixed properly.

Alan...

aye it's tricky.. i'll try tomorrow morning. cheers.

got a few black caps missing actually but i noticed one of the connectors wasn't pushed down properly so i pushed it in and all is well now (i hope)

cheers again! :)
