What mother board have you got mate. I had similar probs. Memory was ok fan was spinning it was doing my head in. I bought a new MB and its been fine ever since. Mind you I had to re-install Xp again.

Sounds possible that a fan has broken. Power it up with the lid off and see whether they all spin up.

If your motherboard has voltage adjustment facilities in the BIOS try bumping the DRAM voltage a notch or two, some need more than the JEDEC standard of 2.5v

It must be RAM. If i am not mistaken you cannot use two different RAMS from two different manufacturers. You will get frequent errors

You can use it but it will error. try the link I put in, it will test your RAM for you....

Try it with just one stick of RAM, then try it with the other.

Could be a duff stick or incompatibility problems.

Using two types is a bad idea though!
