Guys

Does anyone know how the car knows if the boot lid is open? My lid was open and slammed shut in the wind and now the car seems to think that a door is open when they are all closed. I can only assume that it is related to the boot slamming shut.

This obviously causes me issues with my alarm etc...

Can anyone help???? I would hate to think I had to take it to a Nissan main dealer...;-(

there's a switch in the locking mechanism for your boot light. Check if that's on too as it'll drain your battery.

I have had to disconnect the boot light for that reason but how does it recognise when the boot is closed? I take it that it is some kind of microswitch but any idea where it is?

Switch is built into the lock mechanism.

It has a cable connected so I guess the only way to check is to take the mechanism out??

yes, there is a black cable with a connector on the end running to the boot lock mechanism, you will need to take off the trim aroung the lock ( from inside the boot ) and then you will see the cable running to it.

Remove the mechanism ( 3 bolts ) to inspect the switch, connect the switch back to the mechanism when it is out and work it by hand to see if its making the switch or not and go from there.

hope all is ok.
