theres this guy at my work who, during a discussion about another colleagues choice of a lexus over a mondeo st220 decided to pipe up about his car (a sh!te 90's granada cosworth) he started going on and on about how (apparently) fast it is. now most of the guys have seen my TT and know a bit about cars in general, the argument progressed into japanese cars over fords? (yeah i know) :smash: so when i put my two pence in about jap cars and how sh!t a mk3 granada is he said "shut up man what the fook do you know about fast cars you ride a put-put" referring to the fact i ride a moped to work (in central london- i'm not paying the congestion charge!)

my other colleagues know what i drive and looked at me, i took a deep breath and bit my lip, and said nothing, the fact that every one else knew was sweet enough

 

do you think i should have told him? :xxx:

Well it must be some sort of trend in Fords. I was speaking to a guy the other day. And guess what his 1.6 Fiesta Zetec-S does 0-60 in under 7 seconds. I thought he should have been quicker than that since hes put an induction kit on it. I didnt dare offer him a race. :xxx:

It was the 2.8, then ford re-worked it into the standard 2.9, slightly different but with little that is interchangeable between them. Then it was put through the Cosworth factory and came up with the 2.9 Cosworth engine. There was a later version, of the Cosworth 2.9 as well, but I'm not sure if this was any more powerfull though.

 

Incidentley, the standard Ford Capri 2.8 injected engine produced 160 bhp, top speed was 130 mph, and 0 - 60 was only 7.8 seconds, so this shows that Cosworth didn't improve on the original much anyway ;)

You lot do realise there was a twin turbo kit produced by turbo technics for the granada cosworth 2.9v6 that has 380bhp. Maybe he has one of those lol !

Pay the congetion charge for one day and take him outside and show him a real car. then watch hes face it'll be worth a tenner let alone a fiver.

the mk3 Granada is a big soft barge. the Euro equivalent of a Lincoln Town Car.

 

I'd bring the Zed in quietly one day and offer him a race letting him think you're in your scooter.
