It used to shut itself down after about 15 mins now it is just 2-3 mins

Bought a new battery for it, as at first I thought that was the culprit!

Then I calibrated the battery, and it has gradually been getting worse and worse!

Any pointers, btw have changed the alternator, AFM, PTU, ECU and Oil Pressure sender! :D

Thank goodness for that...lolol

as you can see i get through loads of laptops all the time!!

you wouldnt happen to have a toshiba satellite battery lying around would you??????????

are you talking about battery memory like you get in nicads or is this a physical 'meter'?? I'd assume the battery is li-ion which cannot suffer from 'memory'

all batteries suffer from a memory effect

however most laptop lit-ion batteries also have a little controller strip inside this is a dedicated controller for the laptop that can become corrupted and in turn give the same effect as memory loss, also lith-ion batteries are subject to degridation by use of poor quality materials, this in turn leads to the breakdown of the ability to hold charge this is called shelf life and is subject to the manufacturing time of the batteries to initial charge.

lith ion batteries are subject to the same problems as the older batteries, just not everyone knows it.. they dont suffer from the problems of charge cycles etc.. but they do degrade and intermittent or nil charging can cause the same effect.

we used to have the spame problems with the dect phones when i worked at panasonic, the batteries would start to degrade after a certain length of storage and then when used would have problems holding charge, as for memory effect, we used to get no ends of batteries lit -ion coming back due to this globally related term. memory effect is used for ion batteries however you have to weigh in the other factors to use it.
