Sorry, this is a long post ...

 

Firstly, apologies to those who've mailed me with questions re Le Mans and my lack of response. A combination of work going manic and the fact that I'm moving house next Friday have meant I'm not getting any time to get onto the forum.

 

Questions have been mainly based on costs if there aren't two people in the car so I list below a selection of costs. For each case, I've listed two costs. The first is based on the cheaper campsites, the second on the most expensive. The most expensive includes electricity and dedicated showers and an allocated pitch. It is inside the circuit, closer to funfair etc but further away from the hospitality tent. I have no preference on site but if anyone does then please say so when you contact me. If no-one expresses a preference then I'll go for the cheap ones.

 

Prices :

 

4 in a car ... £119 or £129 per person

3 in a car ... £134 or £147 per person

2 in a car ... £163 or £183 per person

1 in a car ... £190 or £210 per person (n.b. this option isn't shown in the brochure and is my estimate based on the way they seem to be making adjustments for number of people - if anyone goes for it then I'll confirm with the company).

 

These prices include ferry tickets, camping and race tickets.

 

The excursion to Indianapolis and Arnage is £12 and must be pre-booked. I definitely recommend this.

 

Travel insurance is £16 per person and the brochure says it's compulsory to have it but you can book your own. Assuming you want it, in my opinion £16 is pretty good and includes refund if the event is cancelled which other insurances are unlikely to have.

 

As a reminder, I'll be going for departure from Dover at 8:00 am on Friday 15 June and return from Calais at 4:00 pm Monday 18 June (but, as mentioned before, you can reasonably expect to be able to be very flexible over ferry times BUT I DON'T GUARANTEE IT).

 

As a result of the hecticness of life at the moment, I probably won't be booking for another couple of weeks. However, I'm not going to have time to chase people so if you want to go then PLEASE contact me quickly.

 

I need the Information emailed to david.hairs@landg.com (not my usual address for those who normally mail me). Information I need is :

 

1) FULL name of EACH person going

2) Name of main driver of the car

3) Age of any person under 16

4) Whether each person wants the excursion (I'll be going for it and suggest everyone does!)

5) Whether each person wants travel insurance

6) Whether you have a preference for cheap or expensive campsite

7) Vehicle make and model

8) Registration number of vehicle

 

I will reply to you with details of how to pay your deposits. Having read the small print, we actually have to pay £50 deposit + the cost of the race tickets (£44) + travel insurance cost. This means a payment of £94 without travel insurance and £110 with travel insurance. The balance will be due 6 weeks before the event (so I'll need it around 8 weeks before to make sure I get it to them on time). Expect to need to pay the balance around mid April.

 

Now for the nasty bits from me ... I'm not making a penny out of this and have a hectic life so I would really appreciate you making my life easy. Please expect me to require the money in my account (including clearing of cheques) BY 21 January. If your money gets to me later and I haven't booked then I'll happily include you but please don't give me a hard time if you're too late and I have to return your money to you. As well as the money I will need ALL the information which I've listed above. And it would really help me if you could give it to me in the order shown above. This really is a bit of an administrative nightmare - I really am not trying to be awkward !

 

If anyone doesn't have the information or money with me in time for me to book for them then I can happily pass on contact details to you (in previous years they've given a named contact for group bookings).

 

Finally, deposits are non-refundable (their rules, not mine) and there is a £20 charge for ANY change in the booking.

 

Having got that out of the way, I hope loads of you can make it - it'll be a great trip. And if other halves want to come then mine would be very grateful for the company (so they can talk about make up and marvel at our parking).

I will not know if I can go until much nearer to the date. So I will try to hash my own tickets together nearer the time.

 

Can you confirm the price of one person in a car, as I have a feeling you have to pay for two people minimum.
