boot road noise

while I was replacing the rear stock speakers yesterday I had the boot and all its trimmings taken apart, and decided to get rid of those annoying cardboard peices that the carpet sit on.

 

But it's very noisy now! I have a plan to buy one of those soundproof carpet thingies which are self adhesive and you just cut around. So If I chuck out the excuse for a spare wheel aswell , lay the fabric and bolt my bass tube directly to the floor, i'll kill two birds with the one stone.Anyone tried this?
