I have just got me a tom tom 500. What a remarkable piece of equipment. I also purchased the UK safey cameras £48. Its got a bluetooth link to my vodafone which acts as a hands free system and displays all in call info and it stores your phone book so you can call anyone from the unit itself and i get traffic situations en-route (1 month free trial) you can set up a warning at a pre defined distance set by yourself that warns of speed cameras it displays the speed of the road on the screen. its a lot quicker to respond than my Ipaq tomtom 3 and you can have a sexy womans voice guiding you to boot. If you are thinking about Sat Nav then believe me this is the dogs B****cks. :bow:

I only have the go 300, had it for a few months now and makes me think how I managed with out one :rofl:

On the 500 as far as I can tell is all done by GPS using your mobile as a modem? I might be wrong but I had them on my Ipaq and tried to install them on the 500 but it wouldnt work? By subscribing it constantly updates and lets you know where road work cameras are too and installs any new sites. So for less than £50 PA I thought it wasnt bad. My bro inlaw has the 300 and he has the cameras on it too and you can add them so I might have spent when i didnt need to. :D but both systems are brill. I am not sure what the 700 does more? I think it contains all the european maps as standard?

Vin yours has european as standard as well i think the 700 is for flash w*nkers managing directors and people like that !! I just bought a tom tom one for me dad carphone warehouse on special at £222 then went to curry,s did pricematch theres was at £279 so they give you 5% of the difference between the two which made it £219.40 BARGAIN !!!!! and i,m sure it has bluetooth as wel but my mums got it now so i havent looked at it yet.

Yep - I got tomtom on my phone with all the FREE speed camera locations, along with Tescos, Shell stations, asda, B&Q etc etc etc

 

Along with voices I have Darth Vader, Yoda and Ozzy Osbourne voice packs - dead funny for the first 2 minutes!!! then you have to change back.

The 700 has full european maps!!

 

has major and minor roads as where the 300 i think doesn't do european but if it does it's only major roads! Which would mean you wont be able to find somewhere via postcode abroad as it will only know the major roads. The 700 has other pros but that's the main one.

 

Oh i've heard a rumour if going abroad they fook up on the way back, something to do with the gps i believe all you got to do is reset it.

Thanks for that! I have just downloaded and installed the cameras in my POI just need to take it for a test drive. Good job I spotted this post because I was going to down load it from TomTom, you just saved me £50 :bow:

Thats the one I have got for my Ipaq tomtom. I tried to install it on my 500 but it wouldnt work???

 

I Have a zip file with the latest database for the 500 I aint 100% but I think its different on the TomTom 500?? It conects through the GPS on my mobile phone and also tells me of traffic jams and all that and will automatically redirect me.

 

I dont know they say its easy but it aint. Im getting too old for all this technology I think. :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :headvswal

The 700 has street level whole of europe and all the mapping is stored on a 2.5gb hard drive rather than the memory card system used in the 300 and 500. As biggest card you can get is 1.0gb it is the only one that can have all of europe every road and postcode on it all the time. It also has a faster processing speed.
