Coming to swap my front tyres and had some great advice of you guys on where and what to buy, but im confused on sizes..

ย

the wheels look the same front and rear, but on the front its running 225/45/r18 and the rear 265/35/r18...

ย

ive been told 235 might be better on the front but what do people think? Confused on if i should run 265/35 on front as well or 235/35? or even 235/40 help needed please!!

It depends on the width of the rim. I doubt the front and rears are same width, if you can get 225 on front and 265 on rear. The width is usually printed on the inside of the rim.

ย

If front rim is wider than 7.5" then no problem going with the wider 235 tyre. Dot fit 265, it will give heavy, slow, vague steering and would rub like crazy.

ย

35 is correct profile for a 235 18"

Don't go bigger than 235 tyres on the front or you'll will fook up the handling as you'll get tramlining, camber steer and slight to major (depending on quality of tyres) aquaplaning in the wet. Even the widest front tyre used on Porsche's is 225 factory fitment and 235 is max size recomendation, but that has more to do with looks than function.

ย

265 is fine on the rear, but the wider you go the better the wet weather ability tyre is needed to ensure you squash as much water out from between it and the road and remember letting the tread get beyond the ware markers on the rear will lead to it breaking away. It's cheaper to spend ยฃ300 on 2 good quality tyres on a regular basis than roll your Z backward through a hawthorn hedge into a field.

For keeping the same rolling radius of your wheels 225/45/18 should be paired with 255/35/18 and 235's with 265's ;)

so 225/40r18 and keep my 265/35r18 on the rear should work out ok... think im going for falken fk 451 tyres....

Its more important to keep a matching profile to stock, than to front and rear.

ย

The Profile is a percentage measurement rather than a sidewall measurement.

ย

225/40/18 and 265/35/18 is a good match to stock and each other.

right, so its not as easy as just swapping whats on... you think like i said above 225/40 and 265/35 might work out ok? or should i go up to 235 (assuming they will fit.. looked at my rims couldnt see a width anywhere..)

Have you taken the wheels off the car - the rim size is on the inside of the wheel rim

I've Trye about 6 different makes of tyre on my Z over ther years and a few other tyre on My T5's and the misuses TRD and have to say Bridgestone S02 is the best you can get for the Zed. You'll have to ask for Porsche only fittmen these days unless your lucky (ie anything with the name Porsche in it means it costs more). They'll revelutionise your wet weather driving. Falken Toyo's etc are OK in fact many on here swear by them, but not the people who have tried S02's.
